Some time ago I was watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon episode
where Jerry was trying to make an “ugly” duckling believe she was beautiful. He
tried everything he could, make-up and stuff but each time the duckling saw
herself in the mirror she kept saying “it’s no use, it’s no use” At first view
it was quite funny but, as I ponder on that story from time to time, it just illustrates
perfectly how the human mind works. Once a mind is made up, it takes a lot of
education and persuasion to change its perspective. This is typical of how a
lot of Africans see themselves wherever they are situated in the planet “it’s
no use, it’s no use” We believe we are from the dark and cursed continent and
there is nothing good that can come out of the continent or out of us. With this
kind of mindset even when an opportunity to break new grounds presents itself, “it’s
no use, it’s no use” Consequently, when anyone tries to make us reason along
those lines; “it’s no use , it’s no use” I wish we could just bring ourselves
to a point where we are not comparing ourselves with what others have achieved
and make up our minds to excel in whatever we are doing, the story will be different.
Unfortunately, a huge percentage of us have lost hope and settled for third or
fourth best but, there are still a few who believe they can make a difference
and they are giving it a go. History has proven that success is not the
exclusive preserve of any group of people but the right of those who work to
earn it.

Il ya quelque temps je regardais un épisode du dessin animé Tom et Jerry où Jerry a essayé de faire croire à un caneton «laid» qu'elle était belle. Il a tout essayé, le maquillage et autres, mais chaque fois que le caneton se voyait dans le miroir, elle n'arrêtait pas de dire « ça ne sert à rien, ça ne sert à rien " A première vue, il était assez drôle, mais, comme je médite sur cette histoire de temps en temps, il illustre parfaitement juste comment fonctionne l'esprit humain. Une fois qu'un choix est fait, il faut beaucoup d'éducation et de persuasion pour changer son point de vue. Ceci est typique de la façon dont beaucoup d' Africains se voient partout où ils se trouvent sur la planète, ils disent "ça ne sert à rien, ça ne sert à rien " Nous croyons que nous sommes sur le continent noir et maudit et il n'y a rien de bon qui peut sortir du continent et ses ressortissants. Avec ce genre de mentalité, même si la possibilité de faire bouger des lignes se présente, "ça ne sert à rien, ça ne sert à rien" Par conséquent, quand quelqu'un essaie de nous faire raison long de ces lignes, «ça ne sert à rien, ça ne sert à rien" Mon souhaite c'est pour nous d'arriver simplement à un point où nous ne faisons pas toujours une comparaison avec ce que d'autres ont réalisé et nous décidons d'exceller dans tout ce que nous faisons, l'histoire sera différente. Malheureusement, un grand pourcentage d'entre nous ont perdu l'espoir et ont accepté la troisième ou quatrième place, mais il ya encore quelques-uns qui croient qu'ils peuvent faire une différence et ils font des avances. L'histoire a prouvé que le succès n'est pas l'apanage d'un groupe de personnes, mais le droit de ceux qui travaillent pour le gagner.
