IS INTEGRITY ENOUGH? - L'INTEGRITE, EST ELLE ASSEZ?
If you ask people one quality they would want from a leader, most will say "integrity" and I am good with that. However, I am wondering if integrity only is enough to make a leader a strong and a good leader. Can integrity take the place of passion for making a difference in the life of people? Can integrity make a leader a better communicator which is a very valuable asset of good leadership? We can sometimes allow ourselves to be pushed into making leadership choices, especially in politics, by the promotion of just one leadership quality only to realise that it takes more to function as a productive leader. This is not in anyway trying to make light of the role of integrity in good leadership but at the end of the day we need people who can move society forward in a purposeful way. We need to consider leadership qualities that can help the people connect with the leader in such a way that integrity becomes the thread that holds the leader and community together in a strong bond. When a leader has a lot of integrity and has nothing else going it becomes all talk and no progress. As much as we want leaders that can be trusted, we also NEED leaders that can take our collective responsibility and join with us to make things happen quickly. Integrity is foundation to build on but that is all it is. Leadership is not a show, it is a contribution to the development of humanity. Enjoy your day!
