DON'T BE DISTRACTED BY SOMEONE ELSE'S RACE. - NE SOYEZ PAS DISTRAIT PAR LA COURSE DE QUELQU'UN D'AUTRE.

 

We use so many clichés these days that many of us should really to stop and think of what they actually mean. These are phrases that were born out of several years of observation and it would do us good to spend some time to examine words that we use often so they just do not become overused clichés. One of these clichés that readily come to mind is ‘life is a journey’. If we take a moment to actually think about this we will realise that if that was true, we would have to chart our course in such a way that we walk in the direction that will make our journey meaningful. As we must have heard time and time again, we must be steadfast and focused in order to reach our perceived destination. The word “perceived” that is used here is important because if you don’t get the right mental picture of what your destination is, you will not be able to work it out in real life. Most importantly, we have to stay the course no matter the challenges or we will not reach that destination; in which case life will just be an existence not a contribution. Stay your course, don’t be distracted by what course anyone else is charting no matter your relationship with that person or how glamorous their course might look. A lot of people have been defeated in life and have even lost their vision because of these reasons. The grass is always greener for people on the other side who do not have a clear vision and have not charted a proper course to achieve it. When you are sure of what you want, you will be too busy nurturing your grass to notice the greenery on the other side of the fence. Do have a beautiful day!

Nous utilisons tellement de clichés ces jours-ci que beaucoup d'entre nous devraient vraiment s'arrêter et réfléchir à ce qu'ils signifient réellement. Ce sont des phrases qui sont nées de plusieurs années d'observation et il nous ferait du bien de passer du temps à examiner des mots que nous utilisons souvent pour qu'ils ne deviennent tout simplement pas des clichés surutilisés. L’un de ces clichés qui me vient à l’esprit est «la vie est un voyage». Si nous prenons un moment pour y réfléchir, nous réaliserons que si cela était vrai, nous devrons tracer notre route de manière à marcher dans la direction qui rendra notre voyage significatif. Comme nous avons dû l'entendre maintes fois, nous devons être fermes et concentrés afin d'atteindre notre destination perçue. Le mot «perçu» qui est utilisé ici est important car si vous n’obtenez pas la bonne image mentale de votre destination, vous ne pourrez pas y arriver en réalité. Plus important encore, nous devons maintenir le cap, quels que soient les défis, sinon nous n'atteindrons pas cette destination; auquel cas la vie ne sera qu'une existence et non une contribution. Gardez le cap, ne vous laissez pas distraire par le parcours que quelqu'un d'autre trace, peu importe votre relation avec cette personne ou le caractère glamour de son parcours. Beaucoup de gens ont été vaincus dans la vie et ont même perdu leur rêve pour ces raisons. L'herbe est toujours plus verte pour les personnes de l'autre côté qui n'ont pas une vision claire et n'ont pas tracé une voie appropriée pour y parvenir. Lorsque vous êtes sûr de ce que vous voulez, vous serez trop occupé à entretenir votre gazon pour remarquer la verdure de l'autre côté de la clôture. Passez une belle journée!

One of the most difficult things, if not the most difficult thing for people to do is to think. No matter the amount of information readily available to us, if we do not engage our brains in critical thinking, we will just be going with the tide. Well thought out decisions are products of robust information. Life changing decisions should not be made until enough information has been gathered and properly processed on any matter. Unfortunately a lot of people make very important decisions without properly thinking through information available to them and this leads to regret and frustration. Even in this age of information, people make decisions based on some scanty information they gather from others without double checking. I was listening to Myles Monroe some years ago and he said something that I have observed to be true. He said if you wanted to hide something from a black man put it in a book. However, I have discovered that it is possible to read and not mentally engage in what you are reading in such a way that it illuminates your thought process. Africans tend to be most affected when it comes to information gathering and this is a weak point that others are capitalizing on to keep Africa on the receiving end for handouts. We need to critically look at how we gather information and to what use we put that information. This was what led to the economic bondage that we still suffer today; agreements were entered into without proper information and understanding the procedure and its implications. Another opportunity is opening up in the continent for economic development; the same mistakes made due to ignorance must not be repeated. Acquisition of the latest technological gadgets and fashion items from international designers are not a measure of success, true success is in what you contributed to the development of mankind. Let us get all the information available and take time to understand what it entails for all parties before entering into major partnerships. Do have a great day!

Une des choses les plus difficiles, sinon la plus difficile pour les gens, est de réfléchir. Quelle que soit la quantité d'informations dont nous disposons, si nous n'engageons pas notre cerveau dans une réflexion critique, nous suivrons simplement la tendance. Les décisions bien pensées sont le produit d'informations solides. Les décisions qui changent la vie ne doivent pas être prises tant qu'on n'a pas suffisamment recueilli et traité correctement les informations sur quelque question que ce soit. Malheureusement, beaucoup de gens prennent des décisions très importantes sans réfléchir correctement aux informations dont ils disposent, ce qui conduit au regret et à la frustration. Même à l'ère de l'information, les gens prennent des décisions sur la base de quelques informations insuffisantes qu'ils recueillent auprès d'autres personnes sans double vérification. J'écoutais Myles Monroe il y a quelques années et il a dit quelque chose que j'ai observé comme étant vrai. Il a dit que si vous vouliez cacher quelque chose à un Noir, mettez-le dans un livre. Cependant, j'ai découvert qu'il est possible de lire et de ne pas s'engager mentalement dans ce que vous lisez de manière à éclairer votre processus de pensée. Les Africains ont tendance à être les plus touchés en ce qui concerne la collecte d'informations et c'est un point faible sur lequel d'autres capitalisent pour garder l'Afrique à la réception de l'extrémité des distributions. Nous devons examiner de manière critique la manière dont nous recueillons des informations et à quel but nous les utilisons. C'est ce qui a conduit à l'esclavage économique que nous subissons encore aujourd'hui; des accords ont été conclus sans information adéquate et sans compréhension de la procédure et de ses implications. Une autre opportunité s'ouvre sur le continent pour le développement économique; les mêmes erreurs commises par ignorance ne doivent pas être répétées. L'acquisition des derniers gadgets technologiques et articles de mode auprès de designers internationaux n'est pas une mesure de succès, le véritable succès réside dans ce que vous avez contribué au développement de l'humanité. Prenons toutes les informations disponibles et prenons le temps de comprendre ce que cela implique pour toutes les parties avant de conclure des partenariats majeurs. Passez une bonne journée!

EXCELLENCE MAKES A GOOD INTRODUCTION.- L'EXCELLENCE FAIT UNE BONNE INTRODUCTION.

 

The reason why we do what we do determines the results and the satisfaction that we get at the end. We cannot expect our results to be different from our initial desire. Life follows the patterns that we dictate to it, it might not honour us with the path we decide to take but it will respect the purpose we pursue. Most people work to live. The reason they get an education or any form of training is to earn enough money to afford a comfortable life, a life enabled by some luxury items or toys as some choose to call them. At the end of these lives, apart from, perhaps the inheritance left for their families, there is nothing else to show that they passed through this earth. Unfortunately, a lot of present day Africans are in this category and the excuse is usually that we are too far behind to make any difference, so we might as well just enjoy the ‘good’ things of life. Why spend all your time watching and talking about the achievements of others when you can give others what to talk about and possibly a reason to hope and excel? As the world advances technologically problems are springing up everywhere. Solutions to all of these are avenues for business ideas. We must use our education and skills to avail ourselves of these opportunities and make contributions that are unique to us. The world needs all the help it can get if people are going to continue enjoying their stay on earth, nobody’s contributions are trivial, there is always someone who needs what you have to live the kind of life they desire, do not disappoint them. Continue to excel in what you know you can do to make your unique contribution. Excellence will speak on your behalf and those who need to leverage your contribution will hear you loud and clear. Don’t labour for livelihood, live for impact. There are a few who are living to make life easy for others while they earn their living, you can be numbered among them if you know what to do with what you have got. Do have a really lovely week!

La raison pour laquelle nous faisons ce que nous faisons détermine les résultats et la satisfaction que nous obtenons à la fin. Nous ne pouvons pas nous attendre à ce que nos résultats soient différents de notre désir initial. La vie suit les modèles que nous lui dictons, elle pourrait ne pas nous honorer du chemin que nous décidons de prendre, mais elle respectera le but que nous poursuivons. La plupart des gens travaillent pour vivre. La raison pour laquelle ils reçoivent une éducation ou toute forme de formation est de gagner suffisamment d'argent pour se permettre une vie confortable, une vie rendue possible par certains articles de luxe ou jouets comme certains choisissent de les appeler. À la fin de ces vies, à part peut-être l'héritage laissé à leurs familles, il n'y a rien d'autre pour montrer qu'ils sont passés par cette terre. Malheureusement, beaucoup d’Africains d’aujourd’hui appartiennent à cette catégorie et l’excuse est généralement que nous sommes trop loin derrière pour faire une différence, alors ce qui nousreste c'est de bien profiter des «bonnes» choses que la vie nous offre. Pourquoi passer tout votre temps à regarder et à parler des réalisations des autres alors que vous pouvez donner aux autres de quoi parler et éventuellement une raison d'espérer et d'exceller? À mesure que le monde progresse sur le plan technologique, des problèmes surgissent partout. Les solutions à tous ces éléments sont des pistes d'idées commerciales. Nous devons utiliser notre éducation et nos compétences pour profiter de ces opportunités et apporter des contributions qui nous sont propres. Le monde a besoin de toute l’aide qu’il peut obtenir si les gens vont continuer de profiter de leur séjour sur terre, les contributions de personne ne sont insignifiantes, il y a toujours quelqu'un qui a besoin de ce que vous avez pour vivre le genre de vie qu’ils désirent, ne les décevez pas. Continuez à exceller dans ce que vous savez que vous pouvez faire pour apporter votre contribution unique. L'excellence parlera en votre nom et ceux qui ont besoin de tirer parti de votre contribution vous entendront haut et fort. Ne travaillez pas pour gagner votre vie, vivez pour avoir un impact. Il y en a quelques-uns qui vivent pour faciliter la vie des autres pendant qu'ils gagnent leur vie, vous pouvez être comptés parmi eux si vous savez quoi faire avec ce que vous avez.
