TAKE TIME TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF. - PRENEZ LE TEMPS DE VOUS COMPRENDRE.

Your contributions begin with understanding who you are. It is important that we become intentional in the way we see our environment if we want to make our contributions. However, no one can make their contributions anywhere without understanding who they are. I believe that like most people, apart from not wanting to confront the things that are in the innermost recesses of my soul and just living life at the superficial level, I also fear that I might be required to get to a point where I need to understand things and become unsatisfied with the status quo. When we allow things to get that deep into us, it would then mean that we will now have some sort of responsibility towards understanding our environment and participating in a more practical way. This is not an easy

responsibility to put on yourself. Wanting to add that to the exigencies of living in a developing economy (in which I live) which is already enough of a burden, is a huge deal.

 However, whenever I go through some “searching” questions, I sense a very refreshing feeling because I begin to see things in a light that helps me to better deal with them. “WHO AM I?” is the most difficult question for most of us to answer. Yet, this is the most essential for you to deal with in order for you to actually understand your life and your environment so that you can live to the fullest. A lot of us live in denial and take the pain of convincing ourselves that we are something that we are not. It is easier to face an imaginary you than to actually deal with the real you. Have you ever met someone who is almost exactly opposite of what they claim to be? What is interesting is that you will be trying to draw their attention to who they are from your observation (as an outsider) looking from a perspective that they are not paying attention to and they take offence. 

This is by no means suggesting that we should agree with every opinion we are given. However, if we are repeatedly getting the same kind of evaluation (especially from people who spend a lot of time with us), I believe we should give it some attention. Interestingly, these could be things we know but we are trying not to acknowledge and deal with because we would rather be a personality we have created for ourselves which we have made ourselves to believe is our true image. 

The strange thing about all of this is that even while you try to ignore your real self and pretend to be some version of you that you have imagined, deep down you are constantly confronted with that image you want to hide. This is the dilemma that we all have to deal with as we navigate our path in life.

Vos contributions commencent par la compréhension de qui vous êtes. Il est important d'adopter une vision intentionnelle de notre environnement si nous voulons y contribuer. Cependant, nul ne peut contribuer sans se connaître soi-même. Je crois que, comme la plupart des gens, outre le fait de ne pas vouloir affronter les profondeurs de mon âme et de me contenter d'une vie superficielle, je crains aussi d'être amené à comprendre les choses et à être insatisfait du statu quo. Lorsque nous laissons les choses nous pénétrer aussi profondément, cela signifie que nous avons alors une certaine responsabilité envers notre environnement et que nous devons y participer de manière plus concrète. Ce n'est pas une responsabilité facile à assumer. Vouloir l'ajouter aux exigences de la vie dans une économie en développement (où je vis), qui représente déjà un fardeau considérable, est un poids énorme.

Cependant, chaque fois que je me pose des questions existentielles, j'éprouve un sentiment de grand soulagement, car je commence à percevoir les choses sous un jour nouveau qui me permet de mieux les appréhender. « QUI SUIS-JE? » est la question la plus difficile à laquelle la plupart d'entre nous avons répondu. Pourtant, c'est la question essentielle à se poser pour comprendre pleinement sa vie et son environnement, et ainsi vivre pleinement. Nombreux sont ceux qui vivent dans le déni et s'infligent la souffrance de se convaincre qu'ils sont quelqu'un d'autre. Il est plus facile de se confronter à une image idéalisée de soi-même qu'à la réalité. Avez-vous déjà rencontré quelqu'un qui est presque l'exact opposé de ce qu'il prétend être ? Le plus étonnant, c'est que lorsque vous essayez d'attirer son attention sur sa véritable nature à travers votre observation (en tant qu'observateur extérieur), depuis un point de vue auquel il ne prête pas attention, il se sent offensé.

Il ne s'agit en aucun cas de suggérer que nous devions approuver toutes les opinions exprimées. Cependant, si nous recevons régulièrement le même type d'évaluation (surtout de la part de personnes qui passent beaucoup de temps avec nous), je pense qu'il est important d'y prêter attention. Curieusement, il pourrait s'agir de choses que nous savons, mais que nous essayons d'ignorer, car nous préférons incarner une personnalité que nous nous sommes créée, une personnalité que nous avons persuadée être notre véritable image.

Le plus étrange, c'est que même en essayant d'ignorer notre véritable nature et de prétendre être une version imaginaire de nous-mêmes, nous sommes constamment confrontés, au fond de nous, à cette image que nous voulons cacher. C'est le dilemme auquel nous sommes tous confrontés sur le chemin de la vie.

The trajectory of life is usually from potential to opportunity. This understanding is aided by how we look at what we consider or do not consider as potential. Everything has potential and therein lies the opportunity to be harnessed. However, this can only be seen by those whose perspective has been developed and sharpened enough to actually understand life that way. Attitude is the key to the kind of success that produces great impact. Life is no respecter of environments. It is more a respecter of people with the right perspective who are too bold, too resilient and too committed to not see what others have refused to see. The environment in which you find yourself cannot and should not determine what you can or cannot do. This is in no way undermining difficult terrains and their harsh realities. 

Nonetheless, the only determining factor should be how you see the environment and what you think about what you see. It is unfortunate that we allow the collective opinion of people to determine how we relate to our environment. We will definitely be confronted with the harsh realities of what exists around us and denying the facts will be sheer folly. Nevertheless, the only way we can progress will be determined by how we CHOOSE to interpret those facts because that is the only thing that we can control. If we take our eyes off the facts, we will never be able to do anything about them. One the other hand, if we decide to take a good look with a view of seeing the good that can be gotten from the facts, then we will be on the right path. The reason many people throw in the towel is that they have no assets in their balance sheet of the assessment of the environment and there are no one-sided balance sheets in life. There are no balance

sheets with equal assets and liabilities either. How we view what is listed in each category will determine how we handle life and what we can gain or lose. 

The moment you decide to see your environment differently, you will begin to see things that will inspire ideas that you never would have imagined existed there. Dreams are not born in times of prosperity, they are normally birthed from adversity and the need to overcome what is trying to destroy us. There is no telling what necessity would pull out of a person that refuses to bow and accept the status quo. If it were possible for each of us to look at our environment more intently, we might develop an appetite to search for ways in which we can add value and improve the quality of life around us. This is better than just sitting and waiting for opportunities that we might never recognise because we not present mentally. We do not have to wait for someone else to come up with ways to add value to the resources that have been lying dormant all around us before we begin to scramble to be part of ready-made answers.

La trajectoire de la vie va généralement du potentiel à l'opportunité. Cette compréhension est facilitée par notre perception du potentiel.

Tout recèle un potentiel, et c'est là que réside l'opportunité à exploiter. Cependant, seuls ceux dont la perspective s'est suffisamment développée et affûtée pour appréhender la vie sous cet angle peuvent le percevoir. L'attitude est la clé d'un succès ayant un impact significatif. La vie ne tient pas compte des environnements. Elle tient davantage aux personnes dotées d'une perspective juste, trop audacieuses, trop résilientes et trop engagées pour ignorer ce que d'autres refusent de voir. L'environnement dans lequel vous vous trouvez ne peut et ne doit pas déterminer vos capacités. Il ne s'agit en aucun cas de minimiser les difficultés et leurs dures réalités.

Néanmoins, le seul facteur déterminant devrait être votre perception de l'environnement et votre interprétation de ce que vous voyez. Il est regrettable que nous laissions l'opinion collective dicter notre rapport à notre environnement. Nous serons inévitablement confrontés aux dures réalités qui nous entourent, et nier les faits serait pure folie. Néanmoins, notre progression dépendra de la manière dont nous CHOISISSONS d'interpréter ces faits, car c'est la seule chose que nous pouvons contrôler. Si nous détournons le regard des faits, nous ne pourrons jamais rien y changer. En revanche, si nous décidons d'examiner attentivement la situation en nous concentrant sur les aspects positifs à tirer des faits, alors nous serons sur la bonne voie. Si beaucoup baissent les bras, c'est parce qu'ils n'ont aucune perspective positive sur leur environnement, et il n'existe pas de bilan équilibré dans la vie. Aucun bilan ne présente un équilibre parfait entre actifs et passifs. Notre perception des éléments listés dans chaque catégorie déterminera notre façon d'appréhender la vie et ce que nous pouvons gagner ou perdre.

Dès l'instant où vous déciderez de porter un regard différent sur votre environnement, vous commencerez à percevoir des choses qui inspireront des idées insoupçonnées. Les rêves ne naissent pas dans la prospérité, mais plutôt dans l'adversité et la nécessité de surmonter ce qui menace de nous détruire. Nul ne sait ce que la nécessité peut révéler à celui qui refuse de se soumettre et d'accepter le statu quo. Si chacun d'entre nous observait son environnement avec plus d'attention, nous pourrions développer le désir de chercher comment y apporter notre contribution et améliorer la qualité de vie qui nous entoure. C'est préférable à l'attente passive d'opportunités que nous ne verrons peut-être jamais, faute d'être pleinement présents. Nous n'avons pas à attendre que quelqu'un d'autre trouve comment valoriser les ressources inexploitées qui nous entourent avant de nous précipiter sur des solutions toutes faites.

One of the things that draws people into a frenzied approach to life and makes them want to gather whatever kind of information they believe can move them forward, is the desire to stand out quickly. They start searching for ways in which they will be visible and heard especially in this age of social media. In this bid to stand out, they lose all sense of good judgment and self-pride. They seek all available means to come into the spotlight and they thereby begin to evolve into the image of those who have succeeded. The words of these their so-called heroes become law. In order to achieve what these ones have achieved they are ready to give up their identity and unique traits. They are especially drawn to personal stories which they should be careful of and they become so engrossed to the point of even learning to speak and behave exactly like their heroes. The sad part is that they end up as counterfeits and sooner rather than later, they begin to feel frustrated because they are not able to get the kind of attention that their heroes are getting. 

We have to be on the lookout for this constant urge to stand out so that we do not fall victims of undesirable imitation. Excellence in undertaking what you are genuinely passionate about will make you stand out. Not everyone is supposed to stand on the world stage to make their contributions in life. If we realize that our contributions are important wherever we are making them, then it will be possible for us to give life our best shot regardless. Many of us do not want to grow where we are planted, we desire so much to be known elsewhere that we do not even put our seeds in the soil where we are. Why do you want to make contributions on the world stage when no one knows anything about you in your immediate environment? It is in desiring that kind of acknowledgement that people transform into individuals that even they themselves can hardly recognize on the long run. They sacrifice their true identity in the altar of fame and fortune. 

No one wins a Miss World beauty pageant without first winning it in their home country. There are just some things that people get themselves into that make them to completely lose their identity. They then end up hating the lives that they have created for themselves by themselves. This is a place that most people do not want to be in because it eventually results in regrets. They might end up accepting something in which they do not find fulfillment without the possibility of doing anything to turn their lives around. It is amazing how most people get to the world stage without ever imagining that they would. They simply found what they are passionate about, worked exceptionally at it and served it to the public. The contribution that their work of excellence made, gave their dreams wings to fly. Not many people who have gotten to the world stage were heavily connected; they just gave their best by doing with distinction what they loved without any particular reward in mind.

L'une des choses qui poussent les gens à aborder la vie avec frénésie et les incite à accumuler toutes les informations susceptibles de les faire progresser, c'est le désir de se faire remarquer rapidement. Ils se mettent en quête de moyens d'être visibles et entendus, surtout à l'ère des réseaux sociaux. Dans cette course effrénée à la notoriété, ils perdent tout discernement et toute fierté. Ils utilisent tous les moyens possibles pour être sous les feux de la rampe et finissent par se conformer à l'image de ceux qui ont réussi. Les paroles de leurs prétendus héros deviennent loi. Pour atteindre leur niveau de réussite, ils sont prêts à renoncer à leur identité et à leurs particularités. Ils sont particulièrement attirés par les histoires personnelles dont ils devraient se méfier et s'y plongent tellement qu'ils apprennent même à parler et à se comporter exactement comme leurs idoles. Le plus triste, c'est qu'ils finissent par devenir des contrefaçons et, très vite, ils commencent à se sentir frustrés de ne pas obtenir la même attention que leurs héros.

 Nous devons rester vigilants face à cette envie constante de nous démarquer afin de ne pas tomber dans l'imitation. L'excellence dans ce qui nous passionne véritablement nous permettra de nous distinguer. Tout le monde n'est pas destiné à briller sur la scène internationale pour apporter sa contribution à la vie. Si nous prenons conscience de l'importance de nos contributions, quel que soit l'endroit où nous les apportons, alors nous pourrons donner le meilleur de nous-mêmes, quoi qu'il arrive. Nombreux sont ceux qui refusent de s'épanouir là où ils sont, désirant tellement être reconnus ailleurs qu'ils négligent même de semer leurs propres graines. Pourquoi vouloir contribuer à la scène mondiale si personne ne vous connaît dans votre entourage immédiat ? C'est en aspirant à cette reconnaissance que certains se transforment en individus qu'ils ont eux-mêmes du mal à reconnaître à long terme. Ils sacrifient leur véritable identité sur l'autel de la gloire et de la fortune.

Personne ne remporte un concours de beauté comme Miss Monde sans l'avoir d'abord remporté dans son pays. Il y a des situations dans lesquelles on s'engage qui nous font perdre complètement notre identité. Ils finissent alors par détester la vie qu'ils se sont eux-mêmes construite. C'est une situation que la plupart des gens souhaitent éviter, car elle engendre inévitablement des regrets. Ils risquent d'accepter une situation qui ne les épanouit pas, sans pouvoir rien faire pour changer de cap. Il est étonnant de constater comment la plupart des gens accèdent à la notoriété internationale sans même l'avoir imaginé. Ils ont simplement trouvé leur passion, s'y sont consacrés avec excellence et l'ont mise au service du public. La contribution de leur travail exceptionnel a donné des ailes à leurs rêves. Peu de ceux qui ont atteint la notoriété internationale étaient bien connectés ; ils ont simplement donné le meilleur d'eux-mêmes en faisant avec distinction ce qu'ils aimaient, sans attendre de récompense particulière.
