REAL GROWTH INCLUDES INCONVENIENCES. - LA VRAIE CROISSANCE S'ACCOMPAGNE DE CONSÉQUENCES.-

Change is almost always full of inconveniences hence many would like to avoid anything that warrants changes in any situation in which they have become rather comfortable. The only problem with that is that any sustainable growth is initiated and promoted by those kinds of inconveniencies. Until we decide to change position and embrace new perspectives, we will keep seeing life from a certain angle and miss out on opportunities that will help in maximising all that life actually wants to offer us. You are not too deeply rooted in anything to prevent you from making a change and enjoying a better view and outcome.

 The only thing that we are not allowed to change except it is absolutely inevitable, is the destination. When it comes to how to get there, we have to explore all options and that means we have to be flexible enough to accommodate and accept change. It is advisable to train yourself to be bendable enough to explore all available options so that you excel at achieving your goal. However, we do not have to continue moving around in circles, we must allow ourselves to arrive at a point where we begin to take steps. No accomplishment is lineal, there will always be twists and turns

which have to be accommodated as we go along. No amount of mental preparation can spare us from the unexpected of life. The way we think about things should be robust enough to help us navigate change and come up with plans that reflect who we are and what value we want to add no matter what we need to rethink, reroute or undo.

 The problem is that many of us spend too much time overthinking that it becomes difficult to take steps to concretize our plans. As important as it is to get it mentally right, it can also become something that hinders the process and causes the steam to cool off. It can then become very difficult for steps to be taken to actualise the decisions that we have so painstakingly arrived at. There is a time to think and a time to step out and take action. This principle has to be properly understood and practised for us to be able to actually add value to our life and environment. Principles and ideas are good, but their value is only found in the actions taken and results achieved. Until vision becomes reality, the job is not done.

Le changement est presque toujours source de désagréments, c'est pourquoi beaucoup préfèrent éviter tout ce qui implique des changements dans une situation confortable. Le problème, c'est que toute croissance durable est initiée et favorisée par ce genre de désagréments. Tant que nous ne déciderons pas de changer de position et d'adopter de nouvelles perspectives, nous continuerons à voir la vie sous un certain angle et passerons à côté d'opportunités qui nous permettraient de profiter pleinement de tout ce qu'elle a à nous offrir. Rien ne vous empêche de changer et d'accéder à une meilleure vision et à de meilleurs résultats.

La seule chose que nous ne pouvons changer, sauf en cas d'absolue nécessité, c'est notre destination. Pour y parvenir, nous devons explorer toutes les options, ce qui implique d'être suffisamment flexibles pour nous adapter au changement. Il est conseillé de s'entraîner à être suffisamment adaptable pour explorer toutes les possibilités et ainsi exceller dans la réalisation de son objectif. Cependant, nous ne sommes pas condamnés à tourner en rond ; nous devons nous autoriser à atteindre un point où nous commençons à avancer. Aucun parcours n'est linéaire ; il y aura toujours des détours et des imprévus auxquels il faudra s'adapter. Aucune préparation mentale ne peut nous prémunir contre les aléas de la vie. Notre façon de penser doit être suffisamment solide pour nous aider à gérer le changement et à élaborer des plans qui reflètent qui nous sommes et la valeur ajoutée que nous souhaitons apporter, quels que soient les changements de cap ou les erreurs à commettre.

Le problème, c'est que beaucoup d'entre nous passent trop de temps à trop réfléchir, ce qui rend difficile la concrétisation de nos projets. Bien qu'il soit important d'avoir une vision claire des choses, cela peut aussi freiner le processus et ralentir la mise en œuvre. Il peut alors devenir très difficile d'agir pour mettre en pratique les décisions que nous avons si laborieusement prises. Il y a un temps pour réfléchir et un temps pour passer à l'action. Ce principe doit être bien compris et appliqué pour que nous puissions réellement apporter de la valeur à notre vie et à notre environnement. Les principes et les idées sont importants, mais leur valeur ne se révèle que dans les actions entreprises et les résultats obtenus. Tant que la vision ne se concrétise pas, le travail n'est pas terminé.

Thoughts are very personal and can be very emotional due to all that is considered when we are processing them. In putting together what we need to come up with an opinion or idea, we have to keep in mind that there is no one view that is sufficient. Thus, from time to time we would generally need other points of view to help us thoroughly understand situations. For anyone to move forward and accomplish much, they need to be open to divergent views. This way, they can carry out a proper assessment before they make decisions. The challenge in opening ourselves up to other opinions is that we have to be able to manage our ability to deal with the manner in which they will be presented. Everyone has the right to an opinion but not everyone knows how to make their opinion understood and appreciated. 

 When it comes to communication, it is not just words that count no matter how well they are presented. The non-verbal communication behind an opinion will determine whether it is

worth its salt or not. This is something people do not pay attention to when they are giving their opinion and they are offended when their perceived lifesaving opinion is ignored. One of the ways that people give us their perspective that can help us in processing our thoughts is criticism. This is something that many generally see in a negative light because of hidden judgmental motives that may be perceived when criticisms are made. Normally, it should just be a view that

someone has put together to help you see a matter in a light that you have not either considered or that you have considered in a way that does not help what you are trying to build. Criticism is a very delicate form of airing an opinion and it has to come from a place of empathy or compassion for it to be readily accepted. 

When a criticism is given in a manner that suggests that it is coming from a superior brain that should not be ignored, it is difficult to accept. Unfortunately, a lot of us come from this latter angle and that is why most people are averse to criticism. They would rather just go with only what they know than allow someone to speak critically about their position. It is not that the person does not

understand that they are coming from an angle that they may be blindsided to, but they are simply put off by the manner of presentation. The attitude could be so repulsive that they could decide to reject what they know deep down is something they need. Equally dangerous is the other side of the coin where people patronise rather than give their honest opinion. Wisdom comes to those who can sift through all the opinions they are getting before they can make up their minds. It is worthy of note that not everyone who rejects your opinion is doing so out of pride.

Pour progresser et accomplir de grandes choses, il est nécessaire de s'ouvrir aux opinions divergentes. Cela permet une évaluation pertinente avant de prendre des décisions. La difficulté, lorsqu'on s'ouvre à d'autres opinions, réside dans la capacité à gérer la manière dont elles sont présentées. Chacun a le droit d'avoir une opinion, mais tout le monde ne sait pas comment la faire comprendre et apprécier.

En matière de communication, les mots ne font pas tout, aussi bien formulés soient-ils. La communication non verbale qui accompagne une opinion détermine sa valeur. Or, on y prête rarement attention lorsqu'on exprime son opinion, et l'on se sent offensé lorsque son avis, perçu comme essentiel, est ignoré. L'une des manières dont les autres nous font part de leur point de vue, ce qui peut nous aider à structurer nos réflexions, est la critique. Or, beaucoup la perçoivent généralement d'un œil négatif, en raison des jugements cachés qui peuvent y être décelés. En principe, il s'agit simplement d'un point de vue élaboré pour vous aider à envisager une question sous un angle différent de celui que vous aviez omis ou que vous aviez envisagé d'une manière qui ne contribue pas à votre projet. La critique est une forme délicate d'expression d'opinion et doit être empreinte d'empathie et de compassion pour être bien accueillie.

Lorsqu'une critique est formulée comme si elle émanait d'une intelligence supérieure qu'il faudrait absolument ignorer, il est difficile de l'accepter. Malheureusement, beaucoup d'entre nous adoptent cette attitude, ce qui explique la réticence de la plupart des gens face à la critique. Ils préfèrent s'en tenir à leurs certitudes plutôt que d'accepter une critique constructive de leur position. Ce n'est pas que la personne ne comprenne pas que son point de vue puisse la prendre au dépourvu, mais elle est simplement rebutée par la manière de présenter les choses. Cette attitude pourrait être si repoussante qu'elle pourrait décider de rejeter ce dont elle sait au fond d'elle-même qu'elle a besoin. Tout aussi dangereux est l'autre extrême : le paternalisme au lieu de donner un avis sincère. La sagesse appartient à ceux qui savent analyser attentivement tous les avis qu'ils reçoivent avant de se décider. Il est important de noter que tous ceux qui rejettent votre opinion ne le font pas par orgueil.

BE INTENTIONAL, KEEP THE BIGGER PICTURE IN VIEW. - SOYEZ DÉTERMINÉ, GARDEZ LA VISION D'ENSEMBLE.

When we surrender to impulsive/dependent living, it is difficult for us to have and maintain a big picture. It is essential to constantly have the big picture in our view so that it can put things in perspective for us when we want to make important decisions. Since many people are mostly driven by activities rather than by thoughts, an important image like that will keep us in check. We usually believe that motion is progress and nothing can be farther from the truth. It is in a bid to be counted among those who are doing something with their lives that many people would rather be impulsive. They avoid spending quality time that is meant to set the stage because they erroneously consider mental preparation a waste of time. 

We quickly want to do something to be seen as successful. In doing so, we opt for copying what others are doing and probably add a little twist to it so it can resemble something that is original to us. Unfortunately, this has no foundation and when it meets with any opposition, it completely crumbles. It is impossible for someone who copied something whose origin and composition they had no idea of, to fix it when something goes wrong. These days we seem to have more active people yet, the challenges of life are increasing and becoming more and more complicated. A lot of us are running around like headless chickens trying to fix problems that we have not taken time to understand. 

We listen to one speaker and we jump into projects that will crash at the first sign of an obstacle. The reason most people fall apart when they hit a roadblock early in their journey to achieving purpose, is that they did not think things through before they started. The time we thought was going to be wasted at the beginning, will now become an absolute necessity. Unfortunately, when things begin to go wrong, that period of time will now be doubled if not tripled in trying to handle the situation. And we might never recover from disregarding that time in the first place. We now have to deal with the weight of discouragement that could have been avoided if we had started on the right mental footing. It is much better to spend quality time without this kind of avoidable baggage before we start. That will afford us the opportunity of spending a good amount of time looking at what we want to do from every possible angle. If we are careful enough to pay attention to this time that we believe is a waste, it will save us from falling into pits that we might never be able to climb out from.

Lorsque nous cédons à une vie impulsive et dépendante, il nous est difficile de conserver une vision d'ensemble. Or, il est essentiel de garder constamment cette vision globale à l'esprit afin de remettre les choses en perspective lors de la prise de décisions importantes. Puisque beaucoup sont davantage guidés par l'action que par la réflexion, une vision d'ensemble claire nous permettra de garder le cap. Nous avons souvent tendance à croire que le mouvement est synonyme de progrès, ce qui est totalement faux. C'est dans l'espoir d'être reconnus comme actifs que beaucoup préfèrent l'impulsivité. Ils évitent de consacrer le temps nécessaire à la préparation, car ils considèrent, à tort, que la réflexion est une perte de temps.

Nous voulons rapidement réussir. Pour ce faire, nous avons tendance à imiter les autres, en y ajoutant parfois une petite touche personnelle pour donner l'illusion d'une création originale. Malheureusement, cette approche est sans fondement et s'effondre face à la moindre opposition. Il est impossible pour quelqu'un qui a copié quelque chose dont il ignorait l'origine et la composition, de le réparer en cas de problème. De nos jours, malgré une population plus active, les défis de la vie se multiplient et se complexifient. Nombre d'entre nous courent dans tous les sens, tentant de résoudre des problèmes que nous n'avons pas pris le temps de comprendre.

Nous écoutons un orateur et nous nous lançons dans des projets voués à l'échec au premier obstacle. La plupart des gens échouent lorsqu'ils rencontrent un blocage au début de leur parcours vers la réalisation de leurs objectifs, car ils n'ont pas suffisamment réfléchi avant de se lancer. Le temps que nous pensions perdu au départ devient alors une nécessité absolue. Malheureusement, lorsque les choses se compliquent, ce temps est doublé, voire triplé, pour tenter de gérer la situation. Et nous risquons de ne jamais nous remettre de cette négligence initiale. Nous devons maintenant faire face au poids du découragement, un découragement qui aurait pu être évité si nous avions abordé la situation avec un état d'esprit adéquat. Il est bien préférable de consacrer du temps de qualité, sans ce genre de fardeau inutile, avant de commencer. Cela nous permettra de prendre le temps d'examiner attentivement notre projet sous tous les angles. Si nous sommes suffisamment attentifs à ce temps que nous considérons comme du temps perdu, cela nous évitera de tomber dans des pièges dont il serait peut-être impossible de se relever.
