A GOOD CONVERSATION IS BASED ON LISTENING TO UNDERSTAND. - UNE BONNE CONVERSATION REPOSE SUR L'ÉCOUTE POUR COMPRENDRE.

Good listeners are good learners, these two work hand in hand to accomplish great things. The major thing I have noticed with most youths that I come in contact with is that they are too impatient and self- absorbed to listen and learn. They are so full of quotations and clichés that it is almost impossible to get through to them. Sad to say though that the results are evident because they do not go far before they compromise their principles or crash. Then they start looking for alternatives or blaming the systems and government. You will know a good listener by the kinds of questions they ask. Questions that make whoever is interacting with them to draw from wells that they did not know were that deep down inside of them.

 A casual listener generally interjects and seeks to help those talking to them complete their sentences because they want to prove that they already have that knowledge. Do you ever stop to ask yourself when you are in this kind of situation, whether you have had the same experiences that the person has had? If you know you have not, it would be better to listen attentively to what you might consider as nonsense. Ask questions that could help you make some sense of what is being

communicated before you decide whether you want to work with the information or not. It is always better not to permit a conversation than to waste your time and the other person’s time by being snobbish, argumentative or rude. This does not mean though, that because you are a good listener it is compulsory for you to listen to everyone and everything.

Therefore, you need to have the wisdom and courage to pick conversations that you want to be involved in. Words play a very important role in the way people relate to and accept you. Integrity is majorly measured by the relationship between your words and your actions. People will listen to someone they believe they can trust as opposed to someone that is either flippant or someone that does not follow through with what they say. We can never overstate the importance of the role that what we listen to plays in our lives. We need to be careful who we choose to listen to because words have the power to greatly influence. If we agree that words have that kind of power then, what are you doing with your influence? Are you investing it or abusing it?

Les bons auditeurs apprennent mieux, et ces deux qualités sont indissociables pour accomplir de grandes choses. Ce que j'ai surtout constaté chez les jeunes que je rencontre, c'est leur impatience et leur égocentrisme, qui les empêchent d'écouter et d'apprendre. Ils sont tellement imprégnés de citations et de clichés qu'il est presque impossible de les faire réfléchir. Malheureusement, les conséquences sont évidentes : ils ne vont pas loin avant de compromettre leurs principes ou de s'effondrer. Ils se mettent alors à chercher des alternatives ou à blâmer le système et le gouvernement. On reconnaît un bon auditeur aux questions qu'il pose. Des questions qui incitent son interlocuteur à puiser dans des ressources insoupçonnées.

Un auditeur superficiel, quant à lui, interrompt généralement son interlocuteur et cherche à l'aider à terminer ses phrases, car il veut prouver qu'il possède déjà ces connaissances. Dans ce genre de situation, vous arrive-t-il de vous demander si vous avez vécu les mêmes expériences que votre interlocuteur ? Si la réponse est non, il vaut mieux écouter attentivement ce qui pourrait vous sembler absurde. Posez des questions pour mieux comprendre le message avant de décider si vous souhaitez exploiter l'information. Il est toujours préférable de ne pas engager la conversation plutôt que de perdre son temps et celui de l'autre personne en étant arrogant, querelleur ou impoli. Cela ne signifie pas pour autant que, parce que vous êtes un bon auditeur, vous devez écouter tout le monde et tout.

Il est donc important d'avoir la sagesse et le courage de choisir les conversations auxquelles vous souhaitez participer. Les mots jouent un rôle primordial dans la façon dont les gens vous perçoivent et vous acceptent. L'intégrité se mesure principalement à la cohérence entre vos paroles et vos actes. On écoute plus volontiers une personne en qui l'on a confiance qu'une personne désinvolte ou qui ne tient pas ses promesses. On ne saurait trop insister sur l'importance de ce que nous écoutons dans nos vies. Il faut être vigilant quant aux personnes que l'on choisit d'écouter, car les mots ont un pouvoir d'influence considérable. Si nous convenons que les mots ont un tel pouvoir, alors comment utilisez-vous votre influence ? L’investissez-vous ou en abusez-vous ?

WHAT IF YOU ACTUALLY LISTENED? - ET SI VOUS ÉCOUTIEZ VRAIMENT ?

No one can teach someone who does not want to learn no matter how much they try. Even if people try to force it, nothing substantial will be retained because that person will not be paying the necessary attention and listening. There are people too full to learn anything from anybody. Meanwhile, they go on with only what they know and possibly make blunders of everything they put their hands on because they refuse to listen. For most of such people, it is either done the way they know how or nothing is done. The sad part of cases like these is that when something goes wrong, they are quick to place blame.

It is good to empty yourself from time to time so you can receive from others. There are usually many ways to approach a situation and it is not possible for one individual to know them all. There are those who believe that they are acquainted with all the ways and that is a very big error. After they refuse to listen, they may find themselves in places that are so far off from where they should be and they are too proud to ask for help. When this happens, they then remain isolated in a place that they do not like but cannot leave. It pays to listen because you save yourself all the trouble that ignorance and misunderstanding can land you into.

It takes more effort to listen than it takes to speak. Listening is something you have to train yourself to do if you are really intending to change your landscape. As someone who is always on the lookout for content, I am trying to listen more these days and it is paying dividends. Things that I would normally shut down, I now take time to give ears to. I have found that what I take in, has ways of coming back to me without any conscious effort when I need them. The funny thing is that there are times I will not even remember where I got that from. The mind is a bank that has such a large storage capacity that houses so much information that we can constantly draw from. Information that you have allowed into your space can be stored, most times, unconsciously. You never know when that piece of information will come in handy.

Personne ne peut enseigner à quelqu'un qui refuse d'apprendre, quels que soient les efforts déployés. Même en forçant l'apprentissage, rien de substantiel ne sera retenu, car la personne ne prêtera pas l'attention nécessaire. Certaines personnes sont tellement imbus d'elles-mêmes qu'elles refusent d'apprendre quoi que ce soit. Elles se contentent de leurs connaissances et commettent souvent des erreurs dans tout ce qu'elles entreprennent, faute d'écoute. Pour la plupart d'entre elles, il faut faire comme elles savent le faire, ou ne rien faire. Le plus triste, c'est que lorsqu'un problème survient, elles sont promptes à chercher un coupable.

Il est bon de se déconnecter de temps en temps pour pouvoir recevoir des autres. Il existe généralement de nombreuses façons d'aborder une situation, et nul ne peut toutes les connaître. Certains pensent tout savoir, ce qui est une grave erreur. En refusant d'écouter, ils peuvent se retrouver dans une impasse, trop loin de ce qu'ils devraient être, et trop fiers pour demander de l'aide. Ils finissent alors par s'isoler dans une situation qu'ils n'apprécient pas, mais dont ils ne peuvent s'échapper. Écouter est toujours bénéfique, car cela vous épargne bien des tracas liés à l'ignorance et aux malentendus.

Écouter demande plus d'efforts que parler. L'écoute est une compétence qu'il faut cultiver si l'on souhaite réellement changer les choses. Toujours à l'affût de contenu, je m'efforce d'écouter davantage ces derniers temps, et cela porte ses fruits. Ce que j'ignorais auparavant, je prends maintenant le temps de l'écouter. J'ai constaté que ce que j'absorbe me revient spontanément lorsque j'en ai besoin. Le plus étonnant, c'est que parfois, je ne me souviens même plus d'où cela vient. L'esprit est comme une banque d'informations, dotée d'une immense capacité de stockage, dans laquelle nous pouvons puiser constamment. Les informations que vous avez intégrées à votre espace peuvent y être stockées, la plupart du temps inconsciemment. On ne sait jamais quand une information précieuse pourra s'avérer utile.

LET'S LEARN TO LISTEN. - APPRENONS À ÉCOUTER.

I come from a family of very opinionated people and that means we have a lot of arguments. What I have discovered about arguments is that most of the time, we are too busy looking for points that we can use to win the arguments and we are not really listening to what the others are saying. It is widely agreed nine times out of ten people do not listen to understand, they listen to respond. That is a reason why many conversations are misunderstood and words are taken out of context. You can only learn and get ideas to work with if you learn to listen so you understand. You can only add to your knowledge if you are patient enough to listen to people and get from them ideas about the environment and life.

You need ideas and suggestions you can add to what you have to develop whatever you want to improve so that you can make the contributions that you intend. Those who take time to listen will be able to get information from whoever they meet. You should never underestimate the kind of information you will get even from someone you consider not as intelligent as yourself if you are only willing to listen. When you commit to keeping quiet and taking time to listen to and hear what others have to say, you will be surprised at what you will notice around you that you did not previously know was there. Ideas are key to a life in the pursuit of a worthy cause that can bring about improvement and positive change in any community.

 It is of utmost importance that we continually gather ideas from our environments in order to understand what direction we should be headed. What we need to do with the resources around us to meet the needs in an improved manner might just be within our reach. Whatever we are trying to do would have been in existence in some form. It is by listening to what is going on around us that we understand that it is time to stretch things a little further. There will be no point in innovating and inventing just for the pleasure of being scientifically or technologically savvy. What will be the use of inventing something that is so futuristic that it solves no immediate problems except you want to communicate it through movies. We have to be intentional enough as we listen to the ideas that are flying around, it is possible that they might help us fine tune what we have in mind.

Je viens d'une famille de personnes très affirmées, ce qui explique nos nombreuses disputes. J'ai constaté que, la plupart du temps, nous sommes trop occupés à chercher des arguments pour avoir raison et que nous n'écoutons pas vraiment ce que les autres disent. Il est généralement admis que, neuf fois sur dix, les gens n'écoutent pas pour comprendre, mais pour répondre. C'est pourquoi de nombreuses conversations sont mal comprises et les mots sortis de leur contexte. On ne peut apprendre et trouver des idées exploitables qu'en apprenant à écouter pour comprendre. On ne peut enrichir ses connaissances qu'en étant suffisamment patient pour écouter les autres et s'inspirer de leurs idées sur le monde et la vie.

Il vous faut des idées et des suggestions pour développer ce que vous souhaitez améliorer et ainsi apporter votre contribution. Ceux qui prennent le temps d'écouter sont capables d'obtenir des informations de n'importe qui. Il ne faut jamais sous-estimer la richesse des informations que l'on peut obtenir, même de quelqu'un que l'on considère moins intelligent, si l'on est disposé à écouter. Lorsque vous vous engagez à rester silencieux et à prendre le temps d'écouter attentivement ce que les autres ont à dire, vous serez surpris de découvrir autour de vous des choses dont vous n'aviez pas conscience auparavant. Les idées sont essentielles pour une vie consacrée à une cause noble, capable d'apporter des améliorations et des changements positifs à toute communauté.

Il est primordial de recueillir constamment des idées autour de nous afin de comprendre la direction à prendre. Ce que nous pouvons faire avec les ressources qui nous entourent pour mieux répondre aux besoins est peut-être déjà à notre portée. Tout ce que nous essayons de faire existe déjà, sous une forme ou une autre. C'est en étant à l'écoute de ce qui se passe autour de nous que nous comprenons qu'il est temps d'aller plus loin. Innover et inventer simplement pour le plaisir d'être scientifiquement ou technologiquement compétent n'a aucun sens. À quoi bon inventer quelque chose de si futuriste qu'il ne résout aucun problème immédiat, si ce n'est pour le diffuser au cinéma ? Nous devons être suffisamment attentifs aux idées qui circulent ; elles pourraient nous aider à affiner notre propre réflexion.
