YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR FRAME. - VOUS POUVEZ CHANGER VOTRE CADRE.

We need, especially as Africans, to look beyond our disheartening projections of the future to what contributions we can individually make to alter situations around us in any way we can. This, however, is a tough choice to make because you will always wonder what your drop in the ocean would change. Nonetheless, no one can make a difference by staring at and enlarging the frame of the challenges. We need to brace ourselves by changing the frame and focusing on something we can do to change the course of the flow. The magnitude is extremely overwhelming but when we narrow the frame to something we can handle within our circle of influence or our immediate community, it puts our little contributions in a better and more encouraging perspective.

 We all run around conferences discussing issues from our theoretical points of view, but at times all it takes is a call to action on our part to stem the tide around us. What is the use of an anti-corruption summit when the ecosystem fosters the disease? When we value and build the individuals who build and run the systems and the institutions, the viral count will begin to reduce. Corruption is a contagious disease spread by humans, we need to deal with its distribution chain to make sure we are not contaminated. You cannot effectively fight a disease that has infected you, so the first port of call is to extricate yourself from the mental space where the virus is festering. An environment that is ‘clean’ encourages growth and development. When people see that kind of environment that caters for their needs and encourages their growth, they will naturally begin to contribute to its growth and development.

 Human beings will care for what cares for them, until people see an environment that can secure their lives and development, they will not put in their best to develop it. We need to stop talking and start acting, our inaction is too loud for people to hear what we are saying. Stop waiting for the government or others to do something before you do what you are capable of doing to change and improve a situation. Each day is a choice to use the opportunities around us as points of entry to make our contributions. Until you put yourself in that mental space, you will continue to be a part of the problem since you did not do what you had the ability to do to become part of the solution. We need to stop waiting for others who are also waiting for us. You never know who could see you and be inspired to contribute their little quota.

Nous devons, en particulier en tant qu'Africains, dépasser nos projections pessimistes quant à l'avenir et réfléchir aux contributions que nous pouvons apporter individuellement pour modifier, à notre échelle, la situation qui nous entoure. C'est un choix difficile, car on se demande toujours quel impact aura notre contribution, même minime. Pourtant, on ne peut rien changer en se contentant de contempler les problèmes et de les élargir. Il nous faut nous préparer en changeant de perspective et en nous concentrant sur ce que nous pouvons faire pour infléchir le cours des choses. L'ampleur du problème est extrêmement difficile à gérer, mais en le circonscrivant à ce que nous pouvons accomplir dans notre sphère d'influence ou au sein de notre communauté immédiate, nos modestes contributions prennent une dimension plus positive et encourageante.

Nous passons notre temps à discuter de problèmes théoriques lors de conférences, mais parfois, un simple appel à l'action suffit à endiguer le courant. À quoi sert un sommet anticorruption si l'écosystème alimente le fléau ? Lorsque nous valorisons et soutenons les personnes qui construisent et gèrent les systèmes et les institutions, le nombre de victimes commencera à diminuer. La corruption est une maladie contagieuse propagée par les humains. Nous devons enrayer sa chaîne de transmission pour éviter d'être contaminés. On ne peut lutter efficacement contre une maladie qui nous a infectés ; la première chose à faire est donc de se libérer de l'emprise mentale du virus. Un environnement sain favorise la croissance et le développement. Lorsque les individus constatent qu'un tel environnement répond à leurs besoins et encourage leur épanouissement, ils y contribuent naturellement.

Les êtres humains prennent soin de ce qui prend soin d'eux. Tant qu'ils n'auront pas un environnement capable de garantir leur sécurité et leur développement, ils ne s'investiront pas pleinement. Il est temps d'agir, pas de parler. Notre inaction est trop assourdissante pour que l'on entende notre message. N'attendons plus que le gouvernement ou d'autres agissent pour faire ce que nous sommes capables de faire afin de changer et d'améliorer la situation. Chaque jour est une occasion de saisir les opportunités qui s'offrent à nous et d'apporter notre contribution. Tant que vous n'aurez pas adopté cet état d'esprit, vous continuerez de faire partie du problème, car vous n'aurez pas fait ce que vous pouviez pour contribuer à la solution. Il est temps d'arrêter d'attendre les autres, qui nous attendent eux aussi. On ne sait jamais qui pourrait vous voir et être inspiré à apporter sa petite contribution.

No one can be in the value chain of life around them while living their lives by constantly imitating others. It will be rather profitable if they could just learn from others to enable them to create their own content. It is almost impossible for imitators to learn because when you are bent on imitating others, you close the door to your own innovation, creativity and excellence. By doing so, you rob the world of something only you were wired to do. To be a part of something progressive, we have to release ourselves from the shackles of wanting to be like others and then take our place and live a fulfilled life.

 It is good to be inspired by others, people can be driven to discover something that they would never have thought of just by seeing what somebody else has achieved. That is how far we should allow that to go. Creating a culture is achieved by helping others to see how far they can go if they understand the process themselves and push hard enough to get desired results. When the zeal to

accomplish what you have in your mind from studying yourself and the environment pushes you, it helps you to easily decide that you want to be a part of whatever will make society a better place for everyone. On the other hand, if we observe carefully, we will notice that people who imitate others are actually trying to be accepted by fitting into their environment. The need for acceptance will certainly supersede that of impact in such circumstances. People like that will lower their expectations to align with whatever is acceptable to the majority.

 Our environment has a way of sucking us in unless we have very strong convictions about what value we know we can bring to the table. As an African, this is a very familiar terrain because we have set very low ceilings for ourselves. We believe that being from a developing environment, any standard will be accepted. Therefore, mediocrity is allowed to reign because we are easily satisfied. We put in a little effort since we know that most times, no one will really take notice. Most of us want to live like the chameleon and blend in with our environment. We fail to realise that we too can set parameters by which people around us can live. If every one of us lived by excellent standards that we set for ourselves, it will influence others thereby creating a culture around us.

  Personne ne peut s'intégrer pleinement à la chaîne de valeur de la vie en passant son temps à imiter les autres. Il serait bien plus profitable d'apprendre d'eux pour créer son propre contenu. Il est presque impossible pour les imitateurs d'apprendre, car s'obstiner à imiter les autres, c'est se fermer à l'innovation, à la créativité et à l'excellence. Ce faisant, on prive le monde d'un talent unique. Pour participer à un mouvement progressiste, il faut se libérer du désir de ressembler aux autres, trouver sa place et vivre une vie épanouie.

S'inspirer des autres est une bonne chose ; observer les réussites d'autrui peut amener à découvrir des choses insoupçonnées. C'est dans cette perspective qu'il faut aller. Créer une culture, c'est aider les autres à comprendre leur propre potentiel s'ils comprennent le processus et persévèrent pour atteindre les résultats escomptés. Lorsque le zèle à réaliser ce que vous avez en tête grâce à l'étude de vous-même et de votre environnement vous anime, il vous aide à décider plus facilement de contribuer à une société meilleure pour tous. En revanche, si nous observons attentivement, nous constatons que les personnes qui imitent les autres cherchent en réalité à être acceptées en s'intégrant à leur environnement. Le besoin d'acceptation prime certainement sur celui d'avoir un impact, dans de telles circonstances. Ces personnes abaissent leurs attentes pour se conformer à ce qui est acceptable pour la majorité.

Notre environnement a la fâcheuse tendance à nous absorber, à moins que nous n'ayons des convictions très fortes quant à la valeur ajoutée que nous pouvons apporter. En tant qu'Africains, ce terrain nous est très familier, car nous nous fixons des objectifs très modestes. Nous pensons que, venant d'un environnement en développement, n'importe quel niveau sera accepté. Par conséquent, la médiocrité règne en maître car nous nous contentons de peu. Nous fournissons peu d'efforts, car nous savons que, la plupart du temps, personne ne le remarquera vraiment. La plupart d'entre nous souhaitent vivre comme un caméléon et se fondre dans le décor. Nous oublions souvent que nous pouvons, nous aussi, définir les limites de ce que vivent ceux qui nous entourent. Si chacun d'entre nous vivait selon les normes d'excellence qu'il s'est fixées, cela influencerait les autres et créerait ainsi une culture positive autour de nous.

IT MIGHT BE SMALL BUT NOT INSIGNIFICANT. - C'EST PEUT-ÊTRE PETIT, MAIS PAS INSIGNIFICANTE.

What the world is looking for the most, I believe, is the individual talent that can be a part of the puzzle in human development. These are the categories of people who bring value to the table and make life more interesting to live as they link up with like minds. Every piece of the puzzle is important which is why we have to be attentive to what we can do to add our bit to the development of our communities. There is no puzzle that can be complete without even the smallest piece. When it comes to development, just like in putting together a puzzle, no piece is insignificant. We have situations of insufficiency all around us. 

This is lost to many and they live without paying attention to what their contributions could be by being more mindful of the resources around them. When we are not aware in an intentional way of what is available around us, we miss huge opportunities of exploring and exploiting the resources that are available in our immediate environment. Unfortunately, we cannot use them to respond to the needs of the community in our own unique ways. In life, every piece of the puzzle is carefully designed to be a part of the whole and if one is missing, it creates a vacuum that will distort the image and allow for unnecessary interference. Many communities have had their culture and learning processes tampered with and altered permanently due to members not taking their responsibilities seriously. Ironically, these are the people that complain the most and look for ways of escaping to other communities that have better systems and results. 

This is not to say our gifts are meant to serve only our communities. However, most times when we miss our chances of adding value around us, we end up living in situations that require our services for something other than we would have done to add value where it is most needed. The importance of creating a culture is not recognized if we do not appreciate life around us because creating a sustainable culture of innovation and development takes a lot of time and effort. It takes those who have passion for sustainable development to make this kind of contribution. They are the ones who are ready to make the sacrifice that it takes to initiate and follow through with the process until results that benefit everyone are achieved. The contributions of one piece of the puzzle helps by making it possible for the next piece to find its place. Interdependence is what is required that the game of life be played in tandem. Life is a big puzzle and each of us has been created to be a part of it. This is also the reason for the codependence that the world requires for growth and development.

Ce que le monde recherche le plus, je crois, c'est le talent individuel capable de contribuer au développement humain. Il s'agit de personnes qui apportent une réelle valeur ajoutée et enrichissent la vie en se connectant avec des personnes partageant les mêmes idées. Chaque pièce du puzzle est importante, c'est pourquoi nous devons être attentifs à notre contribution au développement de nos communautés. Aucun puzzle n'est complet sans la moindre pièce. En matière de développement, comme pour un puzzle, aucune pièce n'est insignifiante. Nous sommes confrontés à des situations de pénurie tout autour de nous.

Nombreux sont ceux qui l'ignorent et vivent sans se soucier de leur contribution potentielle, en étant plus attentifs aux ressources qui les entourent. Lorsque nous ne sommes pas conscients de ce qui est disponible autour de nous, nous passons à côté d'immenses opportunités d'explorer et d'exploiter les ressources de notre environnement immédiat. Malheureusement, nous ne pouvons pas les utiliser pour répondre aux besoins de la communauté de manière originale. Dans la vie, chaque pièce du puzzle est soigneusement conçue pour faire partie de l'ensemble. Si l'une d'elles manque, cela crée un vide qui déforme l'image et permet des interférences inutiles. De nombreuses communautés ont vu leur culture et leurs processus d'apprentissage altérés et modifiés de façon permanente parce que leurs membres ne prenaient pas leurs responsabilités au sérieux.

Paradoxalement, ce sont souvent ces mêmes personnes qui se plaignent le plus et cherchent à fuir vers d'autres communautés dotées de meilleurs systèmes et de meilleurs résultats.

Cela ne signifie pas que nos talents doivent servir uniquement nos communautés. Cependant, bien souvent, lorsque nous manquons l'occasion d'apporter notre contribution, nous nous retrouvons dans des situations où nos services sont requis pour autre chose que ce que nous aurions fait pour apporter une valeur ajoutée là où elle est le plus nécessaire. L'importance de créer une culture n'est pas reconnue si nous n'apprécions pas la vie qui nous entoure, car créer une culture durable d'innovation et de développement demande beaucoup de temps et d'efforts. Seuls ceux qui sont passionnés par le développement durable peuvent apporter ce type de contribution. Ce sont eux qui sont prêts à faire les sacrifices nécessaires pour initier et mener à bien le processus jusqu'à l'obtention de résultats bénéfiques pour tous. La contribution de chaque élément permet à l'autre de trouver sa place. L'interdépendance est essentielle pour que le jeu de la vie se déroule harmonieusement. La vie est un grand puzzle et chacun de nous a été créé pour y prendre part. C'est aussi la raison de la codépendance
