WORDS CAN CREATE INFLUENCE. - LES MOTS PEUVENT CRÉER UNE INFLUENCE.

No one wants to listen to people who have no respect for their opinion. If you want to be heard, you have to respect others enough to also listen to them. No meaningful development can be made by a community that is so disconnected that people do not want to listen to each other. Rewarding

communication requires mutual respect. When we understand that development is a collective responsibility, we will each seek to be the best we can be by always being a positive influence even when we are making corrections and enforcing discipline. Everyone needs to be conscious of this fact, especially those that are in positions where they come in contact with a lot of people either because they are in leadership or they are in positions that make people look up to them. This is why it is important to be intentional because you never know at what point you come into the kind of space that makes people want to listen to you. 

When you are oblivious to the power of influence, you will abuse it without even realising what you are doing. There are spaces where your ability to listen and be listened to become a matter of such importance that if you do not get it right, it will rob you of very important opportunities to add that value that you so desire. We need to constantly have that worthy cause of value addition in mind when we are in conversations that will help us bring about this improvement. When we improve things we are usually the first

beneficiaries because we learn through the process. We also allow ourselves to be used as guinea pigs. This is a sure way of successfully approaching the venture you want to undertake.

This couple that I know has been working assiduously to learn from the bottom up by going back to how things were done so they can add value to those systems by leveraging exposure to formal and informal education, using themselves and those around them as guinea pigs. In order to get it right, they take time to educate themselves by listening, whether planned or unplanned, and reading. Upgrading the standard of life around you is not a job for the fainthearted. It takes a lot of sifting of information and that can only be achieved by people who can really take time to listen. To successfully research, evaluate and develop, it takes a lot of putting yourself out there. Perpetually thinking about how to work on what you want to achieve in the best possible way requires that you rake in as much information as you can. Only good listeners can glean from conversations what others are taking for granted.

Personne n'a envie d'écouter ceux qui ne respectent pas son opinion. Pour être entendu, il faut respecter les autres et les écouter. Une communauté si déconnectée que ses membres refusent de s'écouter ne peut progresser de manière significative. Une communication constructive exige un respect mutuel. Lorsque nous comprenons que le développement est une responsabilité collective, nous nous efforçons tous d'être la meilleure version de nous-mêmes, en exerçant une influence positive, même lorsque nous corrigeons ou faisons respecter la discipline. Chacun doit en être conscient, en particulier ceux qui occupent des postes à responsabilité ou qui inspirent le respect. C'est pourquoi il est important d'agir intentionnellement : on ne sait jamais à quel moment on se trouve dans une position où l'on a envie d'être écouté.

Ignorer le pouvoir de l'influence, c'est en abuser sans même s'en rendre compte. Il existe des domaines où votre capacité à écouter et à être écouté devient si cruciale que si vous ne la maîtrisez pas, vous risquez de passer à côté d'opportunités précieuses pour apporter la valeur ajoutée que vous recherchez. Nous devons constamment garder à l'esprit cette noble cause de la création de valeur lors de conversations visant à améliorer les choses. Lorsque nous améliorons les choses, nous en sommes généralement les premiers bénéficiaires, car nous apprenons du processus. Nous acceptons également de servir de cobayes. C'est une méthode sûre pour mener à bien le projet que vous souhaitez entreprendre.

Un couple que je connais travaille assidûment à apprendre de la base, en revenant aux pratiques établies afin d'apporter de la valeur ajoutée aux systèmes existants. Ils tirent parti de leur expérience en matière d'éducation formelle et informelle, en s'inspirant eux-mêmes et en expérimentant auprès de leur entourage. Pour y parvenir, ils prennent le temps de se former en écoutant, de manière planifiée ou non, et en lisant. Améliorer le niveau de vie autour de soi n'est pas une mince affaire. Cela demande un tri minutieux des informations, et seules les personnes capables de prendre le temps d'écouter peuvent y parvenir. Pour mener à bien des recherches, des évaluations et des développements, il est essentiel de s'investir pleinement. Réfléchir constamment à la meilleure façon d'atteindre ses objectifs implique de recueillir un maximum d'informations. Seuls les bons auditeurs peuvent percevoir, au fil des conversations, ce que d'autres tiennent pour acquis.

A GOOD CONVERSATION IS BASED ON LISTENING TO UNDERSTAND. - UNE BONNE CONVERSATION REPOSE SUR L'ÉCOUTE POUR COMPRENDRE.

Good listeners are good learners, these two work hand in hand to accomplish great things. The major thing I have noticed with most youths that I come in contact with is that they are too impatient and self- absorbed to listen and learn. They are so full of quotations and clichés that it is almost impossible to get through to them. Sad to say though that the results are evident because they do not go far before they compromise their principles or crash. Then they start looking for alternatives or blaming the systems and government. You will know a good listener by the kinds of questions they ask. Questions that make whoever is interacting with them to draw from wells that they did not know were that deep down inside of them.

 A casual listener generally interjects and seeks to help those talking to them complete their sentences because they want to prove that they already have that knowledge. Do you ever stop to ask yourself when you are in this kind of situation, whether you have had the same experiences that the person has had? If you know you have not, it would be better to listen attentively to what you might consider as nonsense. Ask questions that could help you make some sense of what is being

communicated before you decide whether you want to work with the information or not. It is always better not to permit a conversation than to waste your time and the other person’s time by being snobbish, argumentative or rude. This does not mean though, that because you are a good listener it is compulsory for you to listen to everyone and everything.

Therefore, you need to have the wisdom and courage to pick conversations that you want to be involved in. Words play a very important role in the way people relate to and accept you. Integrity is majorly measured by the relationship between your words and your actions. People will listen to someone they believe they can trust as opposed to someone that is either flippant or someone that does not follow through with what they say. We can never overstate the importance of the role that what we listen to plays in our lives. We need to be careful who we choose to listen to because words have the power to greatly influence. If we agree that words have that kind of power then, what are you doing with your influence? Are you investing it or abusing it?

Les bons auditeurs apprennent mieux, et ces deux qualités sont indissociables pour accomplir de grandes choses. Ce que j'ai surtout constaté chez les jeunes que je rencontre, c'est leur impatience et leur égocentrisme, qui les empêchent d'écouter et d'apprendre. Ils sont tellement imprégnés de citations et de clichés qu'il est presque impossible de les faire réfléchir. Malheureusement, les conséquences sont évidentes : ils ne vont pas loin avant de compromettre leurs principes ou de s'effondrer. Ils se mettent alors à chercher des alternatives ou à blâmer le système et le gouvernement. On reconnaît un bon auditeur aux questions qu'il pose. Des questions qui incitent son interlocuteur à puiser dans des ressources insoupçonnées.

Un auditeur superficiel, quant à lui, interrompt généralement son interlocuteur et cherche à l'aider à terminer ses phrases, car il veut prouver qu'il possède déjà ces connaissances. Dans ce genre de situation, vous arrive-t-il de vous demander si vous avez vécu les mêmes expériences que votre interlocuteur ? Si la réponse est non, il vaut mieux écouter attentivement ce qui pourrait vous sembler absurde. Posez des questions pour mieux comprendre le message avant de décider si vous souhaitez exploiter l'information. Il est toujours préférable de ne pas engager la conversation plutôt que de perdre son temps et celui de l'autre personne en étant arrogant, querelleur ou impoli. Cela ne signifie pas pour autant que, parce que vous êtes un bon auditeur, vous devez écouter tout le monde et tout.

Il est donc important d'avoir la sagesse et le courage de choisir les conversations auxquelles vous souhaitez participer. Les mots jouent un rôle primordial dans la façon dont les gens vous perçoivent et vous acceptent. L'intégrité se mesure principalement à la cohérence entre vos paroles et vos actes. On écoute plus volontiers une personne en qui l'on a confiance qu'une personne désinvolte ou qui ne tient pas ses promesses. On ne saurait trop insister sur l'importance de ce que nous écoutons dans nos vies. Il faut être vigilant quant aux personnes que l'on choisit d'écouter, car les mots ont un pouvoir d'influence considérable. Si nous convenons que les mots ont un tel pouvoir, alors comment utilisez-vous votre influence ? L’investissez-vous ou en abusez-vous ?

WHAT IF YOU ACTUALLY LISTENED? - ET SI VOUS ÉCOUTIEZ VRAIMENT ?

No one can teach someone who does not want to learn no matter how much they try. Even if people try to force it, nothing substantial will be retained because that person will not be paying the necessary attention and listening. There are people too full to learn anything from anybody. Meanwhile, they go on with only what they know and possibly make blunders of everything they put their hands on because they refuse to listen. For most of such people, it is either done the way they know how or nothing is done. The sad part of cases like these is that when something goes wrong, they are quick to place blame.

It is good to empty yourself from time to time so you can receive from others. There are usually many ways to approach a situation and it is not possible for one individual to know them all. There are those who believe that they are acquainted with all the ways and that is a very big error. After they refuse to listen, they may find themselves in places that are so far off from where they should be and they are too proud to ask for help. When this happens, they then remain isolated in a place that they do not like but cannot leave. It pays to listen because you save yourself all the trouble that ignorance and misunderstanding can land you into.

It takes more effort to listen than it takes to speak. Listening is something you have to train yourself to do if you are really intending to change your landscape. As someone who is always on the lookout for content, I am trying to listen more these days and it is paying dividends. Things that I would normally shut down, I now take time to give ears to. I have found that what I take in, has ways of coming back to me without any conscious effort when I need them. The funny thing is that there are times I will not even remember where I got that from. The mind is a bank that has such a large storage capacity that houses so much information that we can constantly draw from. Information that you have allowed into your space can be stored, most times, unconsciously. You never know when that piece of information will come in handy.

Personne ne peut enseigner à quelqu'un qui refuse d'apprendre, quels que soient les efforts déployés. Même en forçant l'apprentissage, rien de substantiel ne sera retenu, car la personne ne prêtera pas l'attention nécessaire. Certaines personnes sont tellement imbus d'elles-mêmes qu'elles refusent d'apprendre quoi que ce soit. Elles se contentent de leurs connaissances et commettent souvent des erreurs dans tout ce qu'elles entreprennent, faute d'écoute. Pour la plupart d'entre elles, il faut faire comme elles savent le faire, ou ne rien faire. Le plus triste, c'est que lorsqu'un problème survient, elles sont promptes à chercher un coupable.

Il est bon de se déconnecter de temps en temps pour pouvoir recevoir des autres. Il existe généralement de nombreuses façons d'aborder une situation, et nul ne peut toutes les connaître. Certains pensent tout savoir, ce qui est une grave erreur. En refusant d'écouter, ils peuvent se retrouver dans une impasse, trop loin de ce qu'ils devraient être, et trop fiers pour demander de l'aide. Ils finissent alors par s'isoler dans une situation qu'ils n'apprécient pas, mais dont ils ne peuvent s'échapper. Écouter est toujours bénéfique, car cela vous épargne bien des tracas liés à l'ignorance et aux malentendus.

Écouter demande plus d'efforts que parler. L'écoute est une compétence qu'il faut cultiver si l'on souhaite réellement changer les choses. Toujours à l'affût de contenu, je m'efforce d'écouter davantage ces derniers temps, et cela porte ses fruits. Ce que j'ignorais auparavant, je prends maintenant le temps de l'écouter. J'ai constaté que ce que j'absorbe me revient spontanément lorsque j'en ai besoin. Le plus étonnant, c'est que parfois, je ne me souviens même plus d'où cela vient. L'esprit est comme une banque d'informations, dotée d'une immense capacité de stockage, dans laquelle nous pouvons puiser constamment. Les informations que vous avez intégrées à votre espace peuvent y être stockées, la plupart du temps inconsciemment. On ne sait jamais quand une information précieuse pourra s'avérer utile.
