At times the challenges around you can become so overwhelming that they can suck the life out of you. Planning is an integral and important part of life especially for those who are intentional and want to successfully make their contributions to life.  We emphasis plans that are thoroughly thought through, well prepared and properly written. This, of course, is a no brainer if we want to be focused and achieve our desired success. But most times we forget that life happens. The unexpected is usually not taken care of in our plans. The ability to manage the unexpected is what separates the wheat from the chaff. Never allow life to leave you wondering why you started in the first place, just know that times will come when you will be forced to either give up or be courageous enough to continue. Those hard choices are inevitable in the journey of success. Many of us in Africa who care about what goes on around us have become so uptight that we can hardly see any reason to smile when we think about all the ugly things happening around us. Our plans, no matter how interesting they are to us, are often met by the political and economic uncertainties that are prevalent in the continent. It almost looks like just when you are about to see things going according to plan, there is another surprise sprung on you. Until you decide to look at the bright side once in a while, you will be really miserable. Like I always believe, there is treasure in the trash. If you are discouraged by the amount of dross that covers the gold at the time of its harvest, you will never be able to appreciate its value and make beautiful jewelry out of it. To refine gold, you need to get dirty. The only way to improve a situation is to get involved in a productive way at any level where an opportunity presents itself. You cannot be productive in a state of depression, you have to look beyond what is to what can be to make a difference. Change, creativity and innovation do not come on a platter of gold, they come hidden in confusion, chaos and poverty. It has been done before in worse situations and can be done even in these so-called hopeless conditions in Africa. At times, all you need is to have a good laugh, relax and allow your creative and constructive juices to flow so that you can grab the next opportunity when it presents itself. Parfois, les défis qui vous entourent peuvent devenir si écrasants qu'ils peuvent vous aspirer la vie. La planification est une partie intégrante et importante de la vie, en particulier pour ceux qui sont intentionnels et veulent apporter avec succès leur contribution à la vie. Nous mettons l'accent sur des plans bien pensés, bien préparés et correctement rédigés. Bien sûr, cela est une évidence si nous voulons nous concentrer et atteindre le succès souhaité. Mais la plupart du temps, nous oublions que la vie se produit. L'inattendu n'est généralement pas pris en compte dans nos plans. La capacité de gérer l'inattendu est ce qui sépare le blé de l'ivraie. Ne laissez jamais la vie vous laisser vous demander pourquoi vous avez commencé en premier lieu, sachez simplement que les temps viendront où vous serez forcé d'abandonner ou d'avoir le courage de continuer. Ces choix difficiles sont inévitables dans le chemin du succès. Beaucoup d'entre nous en Afrique qui se soucient de ce qui se passe autour de nous sont devenus si tendus que nous ne pouvons guère voir de raison de sourire quand nous pensons à toutes les choses moches qui se passent autour de nous. Nos plans, aussi intéressants soient-ils pour nous, sont souvent confrontés aux incertitudes politiques et économiques qui prévalent sur le continent. On dirait presque que lorsque vous êtes sur le point de voir les choses se dérouler comme prévu, il y a une autre surprise sur vous. Jusqu'à ce que vous décidiez de regarder le bon côté de temps en temps, vous serez vraiment misérable. Comme je le pense toujours, il y a un trésor dans la poubelle. Si vous êtes découragé par la quantité de scories qui recouvre l'or au moment de sa récolte, vous ne pourrez jamais apprécier sa valeur et en faire de beaux bijoux. Pour affiner l'or, vous devez vous salir. La seule façon d'améliorer une situation est de s'impliquer de manière productive à n'importe quel niveau où une opportunité se présente. Vous ne pouvez pas être productif dans un état de dépression, vous devez regarder au-delà de ce qui est à ce qui peut l'être pour faire une différence. Le changement, la créativité et l'innovation ne viennent pas sur un plateau d'or, ils sont cachés dans la confusion, le chaos et la pauvreté. Cela a été fait auparavant dans des situations pires et peut être fait même dans ces conditions dites désespérées en Afrique. Parfois, tout ce dont vous avez besoin est d'avoir un bon rire, de vous détendre et de laisser couler vos jus créatifs et constructifs afin que vous puissiez saisir la prochaine opportunité lorsqu'elle se présente. BE READY FOR THE OPPORTUNE TIME! - SOYEZ PRÊT POUR LE MOMENT OPPORTUN!

The way we respond to any situation is crucial because that would determine whether we are a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Unfortunately, most of us do not respond, we react. When we are faced with things that are considered unethical in our communities, our immediate reaction is criticism, usually an expression of our disagreement with that situation. Many of us remain in this position, some graduate to anger and blame while others proceed from anger to finding solutions. Everyone has a right to react in whatever way they choose and they would be justified. Responding to a situation means that we have had time to study the situation from many sides. Reacting to a situation is often a product of emotions. It is always wiser to take time and study a situation rationally before making our conclusions. I would rather that we see ourselves as solutions when we are confronted by these unfavourable conditions. Sadly though, the problem is that in many African societies the establishment itself is unethical. Systems or the lack thereof are built to promote corruption and retrogression. This is the reason why the heads of the educational framework that is supposed to build human resources to develop the nation, do not trust what are doing enough to allow their children to train in their own educational systems. This results in discrimination and unpatriotic practices and the youths who are the ones caught in this web, lose all confidence in their nations and the continent. Be that as it may, we still remain the only solutions to our homegrown problems. Most of those who want to be solutions are not in a position to immediately do something about the situation. However, the question I would like to ask is that when the opportunity presents itself, would you be the right person? If you do not start thinking and living the solution where you are at the moment, you would not be able to make any difference when you come to the right place at the opportune time. The right place at the opportune time without the right people is the worst thing that can happen to any nation or organisation. Talking and analyzing the situation is good but preparing to be a solution is far better.  You need information, courage and passion to be able to confront the establishment and create change. Always prepare to be the right person so you can be an agent of change when the opportunity presents itself. Do have a very pleasant weekend!

La façon dont nous réagisons à toute situation est cruciale car cela déterminerait si nous sommes une partie du problème ou une partie de la solution. Malheureusement, la plupart d'entre nous ne répondent pas, nous réagissons. Lorsque nous sommes confrontés à des choses considérées comme contraires à l'éthique dans nos communautés, notre réaction immédiate est la critique, généralement l'expression de notre désaccord avec cette situation. Beaucoup d'entre nous restent dans cette position, certains passent à la colère et au blâme tandis que d'autres passent de la colère à la recherche de solutions. Chacun a le droit de réagir comme il l'entend et cela serait justifié. Répondre à une situation signifie que nous avons eu le temps d'étudier la situation de plusieurs côtés. Réagir à une situation est souvent le produit d'émotions. Il est toujours plus sage de prendre du temps et d'étudier une situation rationnellement avant de tirer nos conclusions. Je préfère que nous nous considérions comme des solutions lorsque nous sommes confrontés à ces conditions défavorables. Malheureusement, le problème est que, dans de nombreuses sociétés africaines, l'establishment lui-même est contraire à l'éthique. Les systèmes ou leur absence sont conçus pour promouvoir la corruption et la régression. C'est la raison pour laquelle les chefs du cadre éducatif qui sont censés constituer des ressources humaines pour développer la nation, ne font pas confiance à ce qui en fait assez pour permettre à leurs enfants de se former dans leurs propres systèmes éducatifs. Il en résulte de la discrimination et des pratiques antipatriotiques et les jeunes qui sont ceux qui sont pris dans ce réseau, perdent toute confiance en leurs nations et le continent. Quoi qu'il en soit, nous restons toujours les seules solutions à nos problèmes locaux. La plupart de ceux qui veulent être des solutions ne sont pas en mesure de réagir immédiatement à la situation. Cependant, la question que je voudrais poser est que lorsque l'occasion se présentera, seriez-vous la bonne personne? Si vous ne commencez pas à penser et à vivre la solution là où vous êtes en ce moment, vous ne pourrez faire aucune différence lorsque vous arriverez au bon endroit au moment opportun. Le bon endroit au moment opportun sans les bonnes personnes est la pire chose qui puisse arriver à n'importe quelle nation ou organisation. Parler et analyser la situation est bien, mais se préparer à être une solution est bien mieux. Vous avez besoin d'informations, de courage et de passion pour pouvoir affronter l'establishment et susciter le changement. Préparez-vous toujours à être la bonne personne pour pouvoir être un agent de changement lorsque l'occasion se présente. Passez un week-end très agréable!

Everyone watched as the boy tried to remember the answer to the quiz question, there was an uneasy quiet. Then he turned to look at the audience just at the point when a friend smiled and gave him a thumps up. He smiled and gave the correct answer. There was a huge applause as the boy was declared the winner. At times, just a nudge is all we need to make a winning decision. Most of us are looking for how to do something on a superhero scale before we intervene in the challenges around us. Most Africans are stopped in their tracks because of the enormity of our challenges. The truth is that there is no society that does not have or has not had humongous challenges. We cannot live in denial of the gravity of our challenges but we can live to inspire and provoke others from our little corners. Societies have developed because some decided to look for ways of inspiring people, by their actions, to give hope when all hope was almost lost. Always live with the consciousness of inspiring and provoking others to do things that are beneficial to others. You do not have to make noise to inspire and provoke, just being there to support is enough to help another. Simply doing what you do with integrity can help another. Listening to someone and making them know that you care can inspire and provoke another to do better. Let everyday be a day that everyone that comes in contact with you is inspired and provoked to be a better person. If you do not make this your way of life, you will not automatically change when you become a leader. Many of us are waiting until we become famous to make a difference and allowing precious moments of irretrievable opportunities to pass us by. There are some opportunities that are only open to you at a level that you might consider insignificant and they can become strongholds of regret when you move to another level where you will not be able have those same opportunities that you overlooked. Make the best of any time and any opportunity that you have at any point in time of your life, they are all equally important. Enjoy your day.

Tout le monde regardait le garçon essayer de se souvenir de la réponse à la question du quiz, il y avait un calme inquiet. Puis il se tourna pour regarder le public juste au moment où un ami sourit et lui donna un coup de pouce. Il a souri et a donné la bonne réponse. Il y eut un énorme applaudissement lorsque le garçon fut déclaré vainqueur. Parfois, un simple coup de pouce suffit pour prendre une décision gagnante. La plupart d'entre nous cherchent à faire quelque chose à l'échelle d'un super-héros avant d'intervenir dans les défis qui nous entourent. La plupart des Africains sont bloqués sur leurs traces à cause de l'énormité de nos défis. La vérité est qu'il n'y a pas de société qui n'a pas ou n'a pas eu d'énormes défis. Nous ne pouvons pas vivre dans le déni de la gravité de nos défis, mais nous pouvons vivre pour inspirer et provoquer des autres de nos petits coins. Les sociétés se sont développées parce que certaines ont décidé de chercher des moyens d'inspirer les gens, par leurs actions, à donner de l'espoir alors que tout espoir était presque perdu. Vivez toujours avec la conscience d'inspirer et de provoquer les autres à faire des choses qui leur sont bénéfiques. Vous n'êtes pas obligé de faire du bruit pour inspirer et provoquer, il suffit d'être là pour soutenir un autre. Faire simplement ce que vous faites avec intégrité peut en aider un autre. Écouter quelqu'un et lui faire savoir que vous vous souciez peut inspirer et inciter un autre à faire mieux. Que chaque jour soit un jour où chacun qui entre en contact avec vous est inspiré et incité à être une meilleure personne. Si vous n'en faites pas votre mode de vie, vous ne changerez pas automatiquement lorsque vous deviendrez un leader. Beaucoup d'entre nous attendent que nous devenions célèbres pour faire la différence et laisser passer de précieux moments d'occasions irrémédiables. Il y a des opportunités qui ne s'offrent à vous qu'à un niveau que vous pourriez considérer comme insignifiant et elles peuvent devenir des bastions de regret lorsque vous passez à un autre niveau où vous ne pourrez pas avoir les mêmes opportunités que vous avez négligées. Tirez le meilleur parti de tout moment et de toute opportunité que vous avez à tout moment de votre vie, ils sont tous tout aussi importants. Profitez de votre journée.
