BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR INTENTIONS. - SOYEZ HONNÊTE SUR VOS INTENTIONS.

These days, we hear a lot of talk on how to be a part of the solution. People wanting to make a difference in society. In fact, at times, this seems so cliché. It is like something that puts us in a certain category in society. If we had 2% of those talking about this issue actually making it something that they are honestly pursuing, we will see the effects everywhere we turn. Unfortunately, many people in this space are actually transactional; if I give society this, I will gain that in return. They are not actually concerned about becoming a solution to make the society a better place, they are just looking for a seemingly compassionate path to fame and fortune. Their desire to make a difference is not born out of a passion for change and development, but from a desire to achieve their goals without looking like regular business people. 

Commercialisation of life has grossly affected the way people approach their goals and pursuit. Almost everything is wrapped in personal gain and we can all see how that is affecting people's desire to make a difference. Life is now mostly measured in commercial value and people are more interested in what they can make for themselves than how much impact they can make. It will be foolish to think that money is not important, but what difference that money can make should be more important than just its acquisition and a luxury lifestyle. What if we chose to make money without making money the major focus? This is hard to imagine especially if you come from societies where all is dependent on how to survive in life. But, even in such societies, people who want to make a difference will still be excited to do something that will push them and other people from the baseline. There is something about being a part of the solution that makes life more interesting. 

When people are passionate about making a difference by seeking solutions, it does not mean that they are averse to fame and fortune. It just means that that is not their primary intention or interest. The person who invented the telephone was just trying to solve a communication problem, but it has ended up making a lot of people famous and prosperous. Many inventions have done the same. Many of the inventors ended up finding themselves in a bracket of society that they never imagined. Becoming a part of the solution should be an exciting adventure to the person who is passionate about what contribution they can make. This is the reason why they refuse to quit until they arrive at their desired destination. On the other hand, for people whose major concern is to have fame and fortune, it is easy to quit and shift from one pursuit to another. What is your real intention?

De nos jours, on entend beaucoup parler de la nécessité de contribuer à la solution. On entend parler de personnes qui veulent changer la société. En réalité, cela paraît parfois tellement cliché. C'est comme si cela nous cantonnait à une certaine catégorie sociale. Si seulement 2 % de ceux qui parlent de ce sujet s'y engageaient réellement, nous en verrions les effets partout. Malheureusement, beaucoup de personnes dans ce domaine sont en réalité motivées par l'intérêt personnel : « Si je donne ceci à la société, j'en tirerai cela en retour. » Elles ne cherchent pas réellement à améliorer la société, elles recherchent simplement une voie en apparence bienveillante vers la gloire et la fortune. Leur désir de changer les choses ne naît pas d'une véritable passion pour le changement et le développement, mais d'une volonté d'atteindre leurs objectifs sans passer pour de simples hommes d'affaires.

La commercialisation de la vie a profondément influencé la manière dont les gens abordent leurs objectifs et leurs aspirations. Presque tout est lié au profit personnel et nous constatons tous comment cela affecte le désir de changer les choses. Aujourd'hui, la vie se mesure surtout à sa valeur marchande et l'on s'intéresse davantage à ses propres gains qu'à l'impact que l'on peut avoir. Il serait naïf de penser que l'argent n'a pas d'importance, mais la différence qu'il peut apporter devrait primer sur sa simple acquisition et un train de vie luxueux. Et si l'on choisissait de gagner de l'argent sans en faire l'objectif principal ? Difficile à concevoir, surtout pour ceux qui viennent de sociétés où la survie est primordiale. Pourtant, même dans ces sociétés, ceux qui aspirent à un changement positif seront toujours motivés par l'idée de contribuer à un progrès, pour eux-mêmes comme pour les autres. Participer à la solution donne du sens à la vie.

Être passionné par la recherche de solutions et l'envie d'agir ne signifie pas être réfractaire à la gloire et à la fortune. Cela signifie simplement que ce n'est pas là son intention première. L'inventeur du téléphone cherchait simplement à résoudre un problème de communication, mais son invention a finalement rendu de nombreuses personnes célèbres et prospères. Nombre d'inventions ont connu le même sort. Nombre d'inventeurs se sont retrouvés dans une catégorie sociale qu'ils n'auraient jamais imaginée. Contribuer à la solution devrait être une aventure passionnante pour quiconque est animé par la volonté d'apporter sa pierre à l'édifice. C'est pourquoi ils persévèrent jusqu'à atteindre leur objectif. En revanche, pour ceux dont la principale préoccupation est la gloire et la fortune, il est facile d'abandonner et de passer d'une activité à une autre. Quel est votre véritable but ?
