AFRICA RISING...A FAD? - L'AFRIQUE EMERGEANT...UNE MANIE?

I see a lot of Africans on social media professing their love for the continent.  What remains to be seen is whether they match their love with actions. I think I understand the other high percentage who have given up and do not want anything to do with Africa, at least they are sincere. There are many of us who just pay lip service to our love for the continent, we even bow down to kiss her but turn our backs on her immediately. Looking with purpose at this continent is not for the faint of heart because you will be going against huge tidal waves. We must make up our minds whether our love for the continent is worth the sacrifice or quit professing our half-hearted allegiance. Not every African is meant to contribute to her growth, so you do not have to feel bad if you do not want to have anything to do with it. Victories are not won by numbers, they are won by passion, courage and determination. Many see the talk about Africa rising as a fad and they want to be seen as belonging to a movement. In every movement, we have those who want to promote their personal agenda and those who want to help the collective agenda, it is not just and African phenomenon. We should be free to express ourselves without any pretensions. Do you see Africa rising or you are following a fad?

Je vois beaucoup d'Africains sur les médias sociaux qui professent leur amour pour le continent. Il reste à voir si elles correspondent à leur amour avec les actions. Pour moi, je comprends l'autre pourcentage élevé qui ont abandonné et ne veulent rien faire avec l'Afrique, au moins, ils sont sincères. Il y a beaucoup d'entre nous qui rendent au continent des hommages peu sincères de notre amour, nous nous inclinons même à l'embrasser, mais nous y tournons le dos tout de suite. Regarder avec un but sur ce continent n'est pas pour les faibles de coeur parce que vous allez aller contre d'immenses raz de marée. Nous devons nous décider de comprendre notre amour pour le continent vaut le sacrifice ou abandonner la profession de notre allégeance timide. Ce n'est pas tout africain qui est censé contribuer à sa croissance, donc vous ne devez pas vous sentir mal si vous ne voulez rien en avoir. Les victoires ne sont pas gagnées par des nombres, elles sont gagnées par la passion, le courage et la détermination. Beaucoup voient les discussions sur l'Afrique émergeant comme une manie et ils veulent être considérés comme appartenant à un mouvement. Dans chaque mouvement, nous avons ceux qui veulent promouvoir leur agenda personnel et ceux qui veulent aider l'agenda collectif, ce n'est pas nécessairement un phénomène africain. Nous devrions être libres de nous exprimer sans aucune prétention. Voyez-vous l'Afrique émergeant ou vous suivez une manie?

THEY GROW EFFORTLESSLY - ELLES POUSSENT SANS EFFORT

In my new environment, I have begun to notice things that the busyness of city life had not allow me to notice. Vegetation is wonderful if you pay attention and notice the awesome beauty of plants and grass- yes, grass... Whoever thought that grass can be beautiful? There are so many species that I am just in awe. I am not here to discuss the beauty of the vegetation, rather I want to look at the growth pattern that I have noticed. Weeds do not need any nurturing, they just grow. Unlike edible vegetation that is nurtured  before it can grow to maturity, weeds grow effortlessly. To have a good yield, a farmer has to make sure the soil is right and properly prepared before he plants. If he does not continue to nurture, weeds that he did not plant will overtake the plants and destroy the harvest. What is all this about? Human society grows weeds by default, negative thoughts come to us by default. We are constantly fed negative news. I used to always wonder why almost all the news headlines were negative until I realized that that is the news that sells. Negative and ugly sell naturally, this is the reason why we need to do everything in our power to seek out and nurture positive thoughts and habits. It takes effort to see solutions where everything is covered in problems. It takes effort to talk about things no one wants to hear, people prefer soft talk to productive conversations. The list goes on but suffice it to say that we have to make all the effort to nurture our dreams in a world where  negatives and problems grow effortlessly. Enjoy your day!

Dans mon nouvel environnement, j'ai commencé à remarquer ce que l'affairement de la vie dans la ville ne m'a pas permis de constater. La végétation est merveilleuse si vous faites attention et remarquez la beauté géniale des plantes et de l'herbe, oui, l'herbe ... Qui peut imaginer jamais que l'herbe pouvait être belle? Il y a tellement d'espèces d'herbes que je suis simplement impressionné. Je ne suis pas ici pour discuter la beauté de la végétation, mais je veux regarder le profil de croissance que j'ai remarqué. Les mauvaises herbes n'ont pas besoin d'entretien, elles poussent. Contrairement à la végétation comestible qui est nourrie avant qu'ils ne puissent atteindre leur maturité, les mauvaises herbes se développent sans effort. Pour avoir un bon récolte, un agriculteur doit s'assurer que le sol est bon et correctement préparé avant qu'il ne plante. S'il ne continue pas à les nourrir, les mauvaises herbes qu'il n'a pas plantées vont dépasser les plantes et détruire la récolte. De quoi s'agit toute cette histoire? La société humaine développe les mauvaises herbes par défaut, les pensées négatives nous parviennent par défaut. La société nous apporte constamment des nouvelles négatives. Je me demandais toujours pourquoi presque tous les titres des nouvelles étaient négatifs jusqu'à ce que je me suis rendu compte que ce sont les nouvelles qui se vendent. La négative et le moche, se vendent naturellement, c'est la raison pour laquelle nous devons faire tout ce qui est en notre pouvoir pour rechercher et nourrir des pensées et des habitudes positives. Il faut des efforts pour voir des solutions où tout est couvert de problèmes. Il faut s'efforcer de parler de choses que personne ne veut entendre, les gens préfèrent discuter des banalités au lieu d'avoir des conversations productives. La liste continue, mais suffit de dire que nous devons faire tous les efforts pour nourrir nos rêves dans un monde où les négatifs et les problèmes progressent sans effort. AT TIMES, JUST LAUGH! - QUELQUEFOIS, RIRE TOUT SIMPLEMENT!

At times the challenges around you can become so overwhelming that they can suck the life out of you. Many of us in Africa who care about what goes on around us have become so uptight that we can hardly see any reason to smile when we think about all the ugly things happening around us. Until you decide to look at the bright side once in awhile, you will be miserable. Like I always believe, there is treasure in the trash. If you are discouraged by the amount of dross that covers the gold at the time of its harvest, you will never be able to appreciate its value and make beautiful jewellery out of it. To refine gold, you need to get dirty. The only way to improve a situation is to get involved in a productive way at any level where an opportunity presents itself. You cannot be productive in a state of depression, you have to look beyond what is to what can be to make a difference. Change, creativity and innovation do not come on a platter of gold, they come hidden in confusion, chaos and poverty. It has been done before in worse situations and can be done even in these so-called hopeless conditions in Africa. At times, all you need is have a good laugh, relax and allow you creative and constructive juices to flow so that you can grab the opportunity when it presents itself. Have a great weekend!

Parfois, les défis qui vous entourent peuvent devenir tellement écrasants qu'ils peuvent vous sucer la vie. Beaucoup d'entre nous en Afrique qui s'inquiètent de ce qui se passe autour de nous sont devenus tellement tendus que nous le trouvons très difficile de voir des raisons pour sourire lorsque nous pensons à toutes les choses moche qui se passent autour de nous. Jusqu'à ce que vous décidiez de regarder le côté brillant de temps en temps, vous serez misérable. Comme je le crois toujours, il y a du trésor dans la poubelle. Si vous êtes découragé par la quantité de scories qui couvre l'or au moment sa récolte, vous ne pourrez jamais apprécier sa valeur et en faire de beaux bijoux. Pour affiner l'or, vous devez vous salir. La seule façon d'améliorer une situation est de s'y impliquer d'une manière productive à n'importe quel niveau où une opportunité se présente. Vous ne pouvez pas être productif dans un état de dépression, vous devez regarder au-delà de ce qui est à ce qui peut être pour faire une différence. Le changement, la créativité et l'innovation ne viennent pas dans un plat d'or, ils se cachent dans la confusion, le chaos et la pauvreté. Cela a déjà été fait dans des situations pires et peut se faire même dans ces conditions dites désespérées en Afrique. Parfois, tout ce dont vous avez besoin, c'est de rire, de vous détendre et permettre vos jus créatifs et constructifs de couler puisque vous puissiez saisir l'opportunité quand il se présente.
