Research confronts the ‘hows’ and the ‘whys’ and this is the only fundamental way to make a difference in any community with what is available. When you understand the dynamics of the origin, it makes it easier to identify the point of penetration that will cause a positive disruption in the system. This takes a lot of unlearning and relearning. It takes people who have been able to answer the important questions about who they are or what their lives are about. Anyone who has not taken the pain to have that understanding cannot go anywhere near such ventures. This is exactly the reason why so many communities have thrown up their hands in defeat and surrendered their existence to the mercy of what others can give them.

 The result of this action or inaction is that they simply survive without any thoughts of really living their lives to the fullest. It is so painful to see a community where human and natural resources are either lying fallow or wasted or are being depleted by those from other communities. These people come from communities where some have decided to pay the price of research and are now enjoying the ease of understanding what to do with what is available to them. It is easier to continue the improvement of something when we are able to have a peek into how things started and then learn from the original trajectory. This

understanding of the fundamentals enables us to comprehend how things were originally processed. This kind of knowledge comes in very handy when there is a problem and things start to fall apart which is a natural progression of everything in life. This hard work of research helps us to document our

journey and experiences so that we have something to always fall back on when we need to move on from one level to another. 

The reason many of us refuse to find out things for ourselves is that we have too many alternatives. That is the very reason that keeps us in bondage to those who have spent all they have doing their own research. When we allow ourselves to remain in such a position, we should be ready to submit to any such authority without complaining. It will be unwholesome to complain about any unpleasant attitudes that we may experience from those who we allow to encroach on our community and its resources. We are all in communities where there is so much to learn from but most of us have no interest in researching what is around us. For some odd reason, we do not feel that it is our place to do so. Ironically, there is a satisfaction in life that only comes from conquering your environment and making it respond to your needs.

La recherche s'attaque aux causes profondes et aux causes sous-jacentes, et c'est le seul moyen fondamental d'apporter un changement positif au sein d'une communauté, compte tenu des ressources disponibles. Comprendre la dynamique à l'origine d'un problème facilite l'identification du point d'entrée qui engendrera une transformation positive du système. Cela exige un travail considérable de remise en question et de réapprentissage. Il faut des personnes capables de répondre aux questions essentielles sur leur identité et le sens de leur vie. Quiconque n'a pas consenti à cet effort de compréhension ne peut prétendre à de telles entreprises. C'est précisément la raison pour laquelle tant de communautés baissent les bras, vaincues, et s'en remettent à la générosité d'autrui.

Le résultat de cette action ou de cette inaction est qu'elles se contentent de survivre sans jamais songer à vivre pleinement leur vie. Il est déchirant de voir une communauté où les ressources humaines et naturelles sont laissées en friche, gaspillées ou pillées par d'autres communautés. Ces personnes sont issues de communautés où certains ont choisi d'investir dans la recherche et bénéficient désormais d'une meilleure compréhension des ressources à leur disposition. Il est plus aisé d'améliorer un projet lorsqu'on peut en comprendre les origines et tirer des leçons de son évolution initiale. Cette compréhension des fondamentaux nous permet de saisir le fonctionnement initial des choses. Ce type de connaissance s'avère très utile face aux problèmes et aux difficultés, inhérentes à toute chose dans la vie. Ce travail de recherche rigoureux nous aide à documenter notre parcours et nos expériences, nous offrant ainsi un support précieux pour progresser.

Si beaucoup d'entre nous refusent de se renseigner par eux-mêmes, c'est parce que nous avons trop d'alternatives. C'est précisément ce qui nous rend dépendants de ceux qui ont consacré toutes leurs ressources à leurs propres recherches. Dans cette situation, nous devons être prêts à nous soumettre à toute autorité sans rechigner. Il serait malsain de se plaindre des attitudes désagréables que nous pourrions subir de la part de ceux qui empiètent sur notre communauté et ses ressources. Nous vivons tous dans des communautés où il y a tant à apprendre, mais la plupart d'entre nous ne s'intéressent pas à ce qui nous entoure. Pour une raison obscure, nous n'estimons pas que ce soit notre rôle. Paradoxalement, la satisfaction de vivre ne provient que de la maîtrise de son environnement et de sa capacité à le faire répondre à ses besoins.
