RACE. GENDER. BY-PRODUCTS. - RACE. LE GENRE. SOUS-PRODUITS.

I heard a woman say something quite intriguing and insightful recently. She said that her excelling in what was predominantly a man's arena was not because she wanted to prove she could do what a man can do. She said she was just trying to be the best she could be in her chosen field and the encouragement that this brought to other women was just a a by-product. I think this is genius! I have observed that many try too hard to prove something to others rather than prove something to themselves. When you try to prove something to others, you over compensate and you are constantly stressed out. However, when you push yourself to see how far you can go and how much you can accomplish, it's a joyful ride that satisfies. With each inch of progress you make, you experience some  joy that helps you to forget the strain of the process. When you do it to prove something to others, you have to wait for their approval which might be delayed or which may never come and this will become a constant source of pain and stress. Encouraging others, especially those  from "challenged" race, gender or social class should be a by-product of your excellence not its goal. Living for impact does not mean you a saviour, it just means you are  living your life in such a way that those in your circle of influence are encouraged to go further by having the courage and example needed to try harder and never give up. J'ai entendu une femme dire quelque chose de très intrigant et perspicace récemment. Elle a dit que la raison pour laquelle elle excellait dans ce qui était principalement l'arène d'un homme n'était pas parce qu'elle voulait prouver qu'elle pouvait faire ce qu'un homme peut faire. Elle a dit qu'elle essayait juste d'être la meilleure qu'elle pourrait être dans son domaine choisi et l'encouragement que cela a apporté à d'autres femmes était juste un sous-produit. Je pense que c'est génial! J'ai observé que beaucoup essayaient trop de prouver quelque chose aux autres plutôt que de se prouver quelque chose. Lorsque vous essayez de prouver quelque chose aux autres, vous sur compenser et vous êtes constamment stressé. Cependant, quand vous vous poussez à voir jusqu'où vous pouvez aller et combien vous pouvez accomplir, c'est une course joyeuse qui satisfait. Avec chaque pouce de progrès que vous faites, vous éprouvez une certaine joie qui vous aide à oublier la tension du processus. Quand vous le faites pour prouver quelque chose aux autres, vous devez attendre leur approbation qui pourrait être retardée ou qui ne viendra jamais et cela deviendra une source constante de douleur et de stress. Encourager les autres, en particulier ceux issus d'une race, d'un sexe ou d'une classe sociale «contestée», devrait être un sous-produit de votre excellence et non de son objectif. Vivre pour l'impact ne signifie pas que vous êtes un sauveur, cela signifie simplement que vous menez votre vie de telle sorte que ceux qui sont dans votre cercle d'influence soient encouragés à aller plus loin en ayant le courage et l'exemple nécessaires pour essayer de ne jamais abandonner. Ne manquez pas l'aventure passionnante que la vie a pour vous parce que vous vous concentrez sur des choses hors de votre portée immédiate.
