THERE IS NEVER A PERFECT TIME - IL N'YA JAMAIS UN MOMENT IDEALE

I asked someone who used to do early morning walks this morning why he no longer does them and he said his canvas shoes were bad. It reminded me of an experience I had last year when I went for a conference in one of the West African country where I stayed in a friend's house who worked in that country. After all the welcome formalities, we retired for the day and the first thing she said when we got to the house was that she now had a personal trainer and we were going out at 5am for the morning routine. I made all the excuses possible but she insisted, then I said I didn't have the proper outfit but she said she had something I could use. As a last resort I remembered that our shoe sizes were different but when the trainer came he said I could go with my flipflops, they would only limit the type exercises that I could engage in. The story had an happy ending because I thoroughly enjoyed my sessions throughout my stay. A lot of us wait for the perfect conditions and they simply don't exist. In life, if you look for excuses you will find enough and if you look look for opportunities you will find them even in areas where you least expect to see them. The most important thing is to make up your mind to begin your journey and as you go along what you need will become available. On the other hand, if you decide to wait for perfect conditions, excuses will be all you see around you no matter the corner of the earth in which you find yourself. Are you waiting or you have decided to begin against all the odds of life?

CYCLE OF DEEDS

I have always loved the story of Winston Churchill and Fleming. Once upon a time, this poor farmer was off to his farms when he came across a drowning boy. Swiftly he jumped in and saved his life. Days later; the farmer had an unfamiliar visitor. This wealthy noble had come to thank the farmer for saving his son’s life. While the noble talked to the farmer, he noticed a boy feeding the hens.

“Is that your son?” the noble asked.

“Yes sir, that is my son,” the farmer replied.

“A boy like that should be in school.” the noble said.

So the noble decided he was going to send the farmer’s boy to school alongside his own son. Years passed and the two boys became great men who left their names in history. Winston Churchill the noble’s son became prime minister. Years into his Adult life, he fell very ill and was dying. It was then his friend Alexander Fleming (the farmer’s son educated by Winston Churchill’s Dad) discovered the miracle pill(penicillin) which saved Churchill’s life. Alexander Fleming left his name in the books of time.

Life is like a machine. It keeps recycling the things we do. If we put evil into it, it will be recycled and multiplied. If we put good in it, it will be recycled and multiply. All we do in this world sets up a chain of events we sometimes do not realize. The abused child, who abuses and grows a kid who later abuses other kids. There is a cycle of good which can be interrupted by evil and there is a cycle of evil which can be interrupted by good.

As we live our lives, we should be conscious of the chain of events our actions will create. If you are a victim caught up in a cycle of evil, you have the power to break that cycle by doing the reverse. Do not recycle evil. Sometimes we have to let go and forgive whatever wrong was done to us so that evil is not recycled. Be a contributor to the cycle of good…Lets spread our hands across the world with little humane acts which go a long way…

Feed the good inside of you!

God Bless!

Stay You!

FACE OF CORRUPTION (THE FLIGHT) - LA FACE DE LA CORRUPTION (LA FUITE)

Two weekends ago, I was with a friend in her village for an event and I asked her about a friend of hers who was a top government official in the past administration, she said he was abroad. I told her that he was on the run and she seemed surprised but then she stared at me for a while and said no wonder he just came in briefly to drop his own contribution and left immediately.
There are various reasons why people relocate to other nations; some do so to escape problems in the society, some do so for professional reasons while others do so for a change in their environment. However, it is difficult for me to believe that politicians who relocate immediately after their tenures do so for any of these reasons. These are people who are supposed to be elder statesmen who should help in nation building by using the experience they had in office to mentor the upcoming leaders. Why do they choose to relocate if all is well with them? When you abuse the opportunity to serve, it continues to haunt you for life. It is a bid to remain relevant and escape all forms of justice that they do all they can to hold on to power. I always ask myself what it takes to be fulfilled and I always come up with the answer that all you need to do is make life better for others. When the reverse is the case you would go your grave pretending that you are happy while you are really burning in the hell of your greed and wickedness. This is what makes me passionate about what I do; as many youths as I come across should have the opportunity of having all the options clear before them before it comes to their turn. Right now what most of them have is the falsehood that there is no other way to life but these crooked ways that these office holders are shamelessly advertising. To avoid these forced flights, we must develop our love for service.
