I know people who have ventured out of their comfort zone and who have run back to take refuge there again because they underestimated the heat of the fire we all encounter outside our comfort zone. Some have been able to overcome and come back with a determination to make their dreams come true no matter what they have to face. Some have decided to remain in their comfort zones and become voices that discourage others from taking their chances in life. There is another group, those who have decided to downgrade their dreams to fit in with their present realities. When we live in an environment or surround ourselves with people that limit our vision, the courage to hold on to our dream in spite of all the challenges that try to stop us from moving forward, is gradually eroded. Never downgrade your vision to match your present realities because if your dream is not bigger than your current abilities and realities, it is not worth pursuing. It is called a vision because it is something that we need to incubate and birth which means it is not something that should fit into our present. Dreams are images of something that does not exist that is waiting for expression. Pursuing a vision therefore means that you have to take steps that you have never taken and see things from a point of view that will stretch your imagination and capacities. Do not allow people's opinion and everyday challenges to make you accept a lower version of what you intend to accomplish. Anybody who has achieved any meaningful success has had to overcome this stage in their walk. Do not allow the opinion of those who turned back to mediocrity deter you from striving for excellence. Fear and failure are both indispensable ingredients for success. When you understand and accept them, you will be grateful for the invaluable fragrance they add to success. Enjoy a great week!
AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.
