DEVELOPMENT AND IDENTITY - LE DÉVELOPPEMENT ET L'IDENTITÉ

Africa and her independent countries have seemingly been plagued by societal development issues ranging from poor leadership, corruption, poverty and lack of infrastructure to more obvious challenges like lack of electricity, access to good education, freedom of innovative expressions and an absence of basic benefits of a modern day society leading her to be in the forefront of poor communities as compared with the implementations of this age. There have been very many opinions, analysis, compositions, panels and contributions to arrive at a solution but the problem is basic in nature: a lack of understanding of the very word ‘development’ in itself... Education is a tool for empowerment and without the proper use,  abuse is imminent. In Africa, we have many academically educated professionals without the skills or environmental support for implementation… or so it seems. The pure fact would be as simple as learning to light a candle with fire and if there is no candle, you make one. This seems to be our most basic challenge as we are always looking this way or the other without taking stock of our own basic needs and how to meet them... Every community, society or country worked hard to develop its people, Africa included. With development comes expansion and expansion creates interaction which creates collision and in some cases, Chaos. This Chaos created a vacuum for the African history and heritage such that a connection to the development of the ancient Africa has only been an illusion. This illusion creates an uncertainty of identity and identity is the most important character for development of any people of the world. It is Identity that creates rules, laws and terms of negotiation. It is identity that creates the future.

L'Afrique et ses pays indépendants ont apparemment été touchés par des problèmes de développement sociétaux à  voir la mauvaise gestion, la corruption, la pauvreté et le manque d'infrastructures aux défis plus évidents comme le manque d'électricité, l'accès à une bonne éducation, la liberté d'expressions innovantes et l'absence d'avantages fondamentaux d'une société moderne lui permettant d'être à l'avant-garde des communautés pauvres par rapport aux mises en œuvre de cet âge. Il y a eu beaucoup d'opinions, d'analyses, de compositions, de panels et de contributions pour parvenir à une solution, mais le problème est de nature fondamentale: un manque de compréhension du mot même «développement» en soi ... L'éducation est un outil d'habilitation et sans l'utilisation appropriée, l'abus est imminent. En Afrique, nous avons beaucoup de professionnels sans les compétences ou le soutien environnemental pour la mise en œuvre ... ou c'est ce qu'il semble. La simple vérité serait aussi simple que d'apprendre à allumer une bougie avec le feu et s'il n'y a pas de bougie, on en fabrique une. Cela semble être notre défi le plus fondamental car nous cherchons toujours d'une façon ou d'une autre sans faire attention à  nos besoins fondamentaux et comment les surmonter ... Chaque communauté, société ou pays a travaillé dur pour développer son peuple, l'Afrique y comprise. Avec le développement vient l'expansion et l'expansion crée une interaction qui crée une collision et dans certains cas, le Chaos. Ce Chaos a créé un vide pour l'histoire et le patrimoine africains, de telle sorte qu'une connexion au développement de l'Afrique ancienne n'est devenu qu'une illusion. Cette illusion crée une incertitude de l'identité et l'identité est le caractère le plus important pour le développement de tous les peuples du monde. C'est l'Identité qui crée des règles, des lois et des termes de négociation. C'est l'identité qui crée l'avenir.

IT CAN'T BE ROCKET SCIENCE - CELA NE PEUT PAS ÊTRE SORCIÈRE

Nigeria has been facing some really hard times recently and this has forced many to consider alternative routes; the major one for me has been a shift towards locally produced rice. However, I discovered that the production of most locally grown rice has not improved from how I knew it very long time ago as a child. Eating rice those days used to be quite stressful because you had pick out stones and blow out chaff before you could cook it. Surprise! Surprise!! Surprise!!! the story is still the same with a large percentage of locally produced rice. Hmmm... how difficult can it be to have clean rice like they do  in other parts of the world? In Africa, from history I have read, there was technological progress made especially in the area of agriculture in the early times. Why have our brains suddenly gone to sleep and we have now become a dumping ground for consumption? This has so permeated the continent that even the financial institutions and government would rather support importation than encourage production and innovation. Are we going to allow this to continue? because right now that is what it seems. My concern is that the youths have to get it right mentally if we are to make any progress in this continent. If they do not make a mental detour from either running away or following in the corrupt footsteps of our present crop of leaders, we are in trouble. Think about this as you enjoy your weekend.

Le Nigéria traverse des moments vraiment difficiles ces jours-ci et cela a forcé beaucoup à envisager des itinéraires alternatifs; La principale pour moi est un changement vers la production du riz locale. Cependant, j'ai découvert que la production de la plupart du riz cultivédans la région n'a pas développé du niveau que j'e l;ai connu il ya très longtemps quand j'étais enfant. Manger du riz ces jours-là était assez stressant parce que vous deviez faire sortir des graines de sable et souffler la paille avant de pouvoir cuisiner. Surprise! Surprise!! Surprise!!! L'histoire est toujours la même avec un grand pourcentage de riz produit localement. Hmmm ... comment difficile peut-il être d'avoir du riz propre comme ils le font dans d'autres parties du monde? En Afrique, d'après l'histoire, j'ai lu qu'il y avait des progrès technologiques réalisés surtout dans le domaine de l'agriculture dans les premiers temps. Pourquoi notre cerveau s'est-il soudainement endormi et nous sommes devenus un terrain de décharge pour la consommation? Cela a tellement imprégné le continent que même les institutions financières et le gouvernement préfèrent soutenir l'importation plutôt que d'encourager la production et l'innovation. Allons-nous laisser la continuation de ce phénomène? Parce qu'en ce moment c'est ce qu'il semble. Ce qui me préoccupe, c'est que les jeunes doivent réagir mentalement si nous voulons faire du progrès dans ce continent. S'ils ne font pas un détour mental de cet idée de s'échapper ou de suivre les traces corrompues du lot actuelle de nos leaders, nous sommes face aux grands problèmes. This is a comment on the article posted on the 3rd of this month on innovation as a true crossroad for African development. Many times it seems like you are facing a brick wall when you discuss innovation and creativity in the African continent because all most people think about here, is survival. In this position, the creative juices of many cease to flow but this is where we also have those who Cecile has described as those  having the "gut feeling" who are motivated by what they can do to become a solution to these dire situations. Like they say, the same boiling water that hardens an egg softens the potato. As African youths we have to see beyond these hardships and incompetences and look to how we can use any opportunities at our disposal to make some progress even if it is just arriving at a point mentally where we see ourselves as solutions. Let us look at the possibilities of preventing ourselves and others from sleeping on an empty stomach rather than allowing the situation to take life from us. Remember that one day you may come into a position of leadership; you prepare now not then. Enjoy your day!

«Ce qui me vient à l'esprit quand je vois cette image, c'est qu'il sera impossible de transformer les gens qui vivent dans des situations d'urgence alimentaire ou dans toute autre situation d'urgence de survie en guerriers, à moins qu'ils aient l'intuition que ce combat les aidera à résoudre leur problème instantanément , Leur seule préoccupation vivante étant l'ancienne.

Ci-dessus est un commentaire sur l'article publié le 3 de ce mois sur l'innovation comme le véritable chemin de croix du développement de l'Afrique. Plusieurs fois, il semble que vous êtes face à un mur de briques quand vous discutez l'innovation et la créativité sur le continent africain parce que tout dont la plupart des gens ici pensent, c'est la survie. Dans une telle position, les sucs créatifs de beaucoup cessent de couler, mais c'est là que nous avons aussi ceux que Cécile a décrit comme ayant «l'instinct» qui sont motivés par ce qu'ils peuvent faire pour devenir une solution à ces situations désastreuses. Comme on dit, la même eau bouillante qui durcit un œuf adoucit la pomme de terre. En tant que jeunes africains, nous devons voir au-delà de ces difficultés et des insuffisances et rechercher les moyens que nous pouvons employer pour exploiter toutes les possibilités à notre disposition pour faire quelques progrès, même s'il s'agit d'arriver à un point mental où nous nous voyons comme des solutions. Examinons les possibilités qui nous aideront à empêcher nous-mêmes et même les autres à dormir sur un estomac vide plutôt que de laisser la situation nous prendre la vie. Rappelez-vous qu'un jour, vous pouvez arriver dans une position de leadership; il faut vous vous préparez maintenant avant d'y arriver. Bonne journée!
