A lot of us especially in this part of the world tend to look away from around us to find solutions to problems that confront us. Recently, it is becoming more evident that if we just look around us to see what experiences and resources we can harness to face challenges around us, we could begin to make some progress. Many times we import solutions that we cannot adapt to our situations because of cultural, historical, political, regional or economic differences. When we try to use these methods, we end up complicating issues and oftentimes looking stupid. Music, entertainment and education readily come to mind; the importation in these areas are changing lifestyle choices that make it difficult for any meaningful growth to take place. When even African cuisine is seen to be something for the low income earners, one begins to wonder how far we are going to take this. International integration is now huge but until you appreciate what you have, you cannot bring anything to the table, you will continue living off others. We have an abundance of what it takes (human and natural resources) to take our position in the committee of nations but until we look inward to seek for solutions to our issues, we will remain in the grasp of more developed nations. History has evidence to substantiate this but we have even turned our back on our history. How much lower are we going to sink...
AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.
