AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

FIND YOUR OWN RHYTHM - TROUVEZ VOTRE PROPRE RYTHME
FIND YOUR OWN RHYTHM
By Stanley Umezulike
Instead of comparing yourself to others, get busy
making your own life better.
Yes, it is you against the world. Every man’s
journey is unique. Your destiny, your path in life is not the same with that of
others.
Stick to what works for you. Every day, strive to be
better than who you were yesterday. In life, if you are not improving, you are
declining.

Move at your own pace. Find your own rhythm. Your
time will come.

TROUVEZ VOTRE PROPRE RYTHME
Trouvez votre propre rythme. Votre temps viendra.

LEADERSHIP AMPLIFIES THE KIND OF FOLLOWER YOU WERE. - LE LEADERSHIP NE FAIT QU'AMPLIFIE LE GENRE DE PARTISAN QUE VOUS ÊTIEZ.
It is like never ending stories of woe. Anyone you talk to has an opinion of what can be done so that the system can run better but nothing is changing. Discussions upon discussions, article after article, yet nothing is changing, if anything, they seem to be getting worse. Some of those in leadership positions now, were once the voices of reason. Is it that we are just empty sounding voices who do not have any real passion about what we believe? The issue of bad governance in Africa is something that appears to be an insurmountable mountain.
However, there is nothing impossible about good governance if we put our minds to it; it maybe difficult but it is not rocket science. The problem is that many who think they know what leadership is, do not know much about it outside the academics and the thrill of talking about the subject. Those who are passionate about leadership are just servants and many of them never get on platforms where they can serve the majority. Getting a good understanding of service before you get into a position to serve is indispensable, that is why we as citizens have to get it right before we get into leadership positions. Until people are ready to serve wherever the need arises, they will miss opportunities to make a difference and even if they come into huge platforms to serve and influence a large percentage, they would not be suited for it. I listen to youths always with lofty ideals who cannot deliver on very small opportunities to serve, all they have are ideas and principles they have gathered from books and training. Stop trying to be a leader and just concentrate on serving whenever the opportunity presents itself even if is to an audience of one. Leaders were once citizens or followers, you only become the kind of leader as the kind of follower you were. A title does not change who you are, it just amplifies it. Do have a wonderful weekend!
