EYES ON THE REWARD; PAIN IN THE JOURNEY. - LES YEUX SUR LE PRIX; LA DOULEUR DANS LE VOYAGE.

The reason most of us are frustrated with the journey is because we have our eyes glued to the image of the reward. We see ourselves on platforms, in boardrooms or somewhere in the spotlight. Therefore, any situation that does not resemble these leads to frustration. We cannot enjoy the scenery and the victorious steps of progress that inch towards the finish line. Those who focus on the journey will enjoy it and arrive at their destination still full of vigor and strength to enjoy the burden of success. If you cannot enjoy the process, it will be difficult for you appreciate success because you will be worn out and burnt out by the time you achieve what you have spent your blood, sweat and tears to accomplish.

I have watched successful architects undertake magnificent building projects and they are very excited with the build as they see every little detail put in place. I look at them taking great pride in the process because of the image of the finished project they have in mind. Any other person watching them would wonder why such a hectic task is giving them so much joy. I have seen them work through challenges, rearranging things, going back to the drafts, re-doing budgets and they just keep going.I am quite certain that most of the time, their mind is not in the big money coming from the fees, they are at a point were what they are building is more important than the fees. When we are focused on the reward and we are not excited about the process, it takes our attention off the journey and off the details. The result is a process not properly managed and a finish not as we dreamt it would be. Consequently, we will either live with the regret of not accomplishing what we envisioned or we will have to go back and fix things up out of the reward we having been dying to make. It is what you focus on that you will achieve, so focus on what is important. This way you will enjoy both the process and the outcome. Do have a blessed day! La plupart d’entre nous sont frustrés par le parcou parce que nous avons les yeux rivés sur l’image de la récompense. Nous nous voyons sur des plates-formes, dans des salles de réunion ou quelque part sous les projecteurs. Par conséquent, toute situation qui ne ressemble pas à ces situations est une source de frustration. Nous ne pouvons pas profiter du paysage et des pas de progrès victorieux qui nous rapprochent de la ligne d'arrivée. Ceux qui se concentrent sur le voyage vont en profiter et arriver à la destination toujours pleins de vigueur et de force pour profiter du fardeau du succès. Si vous ne pouvez pas profiter du processus, il sera difficile pour vous d’apprécier le succès car vous serez abbatu et épuisé au moment où vous obtiendrez cela dont vous avez dépensé votre sang, votre sueur et vos larmes à accomplir. J'ai vu des architectes à succès entreprendre de magnifiques projets de construction et ils sont très enthousiastes à l'idée de la construction car ils voient chaque détail mis en place. Je les considère comme très fiers du processus en raison de l'image du projet fini qu'ils ont en tête. Ceux qui les regardent se demanderont pourquoi une tâche aussi agitée leur procure tant de joie. Je les ai vus affronter des difficultés, réorganiser les choses, revenir aux brouillons, refaire les budgets et ils ne font que continuer. Je suis certain que la plupart du temps, ils ne pensent pas à l'argent qui vient des honoraires, ils sont à un moment où ce qu'ils construisent est plus important que les frais. Lorsque nous sommes concentrés sur la récompense et que nous ne sommes pas enthousiasmés par le processus, cela détourne notre attention du voyage et des détails. Le résultat est un processus mal géré et une fin pas comme nous le pensions. En conséquence, nous vivrons soit avec le regret de ne pas réaliser ce que nous avions envisagé, soit nous devrons revenir en arrière et arranger les choses à partir de la récompense que nous avions envie d'en tirer. C’est ce sur quoi vous vous concentrez et que vous réaliserez, alors concentrez-vous sur ce qui est important. De cette façon, vous apprécierez à la fois le processus et le résultat. STOP WOBBLING - ARRÊTEZ DE TREMBLOTER

You cannot do anything if you are wobbling mentally. Some people are never certain about anything, all they do is look for anything that is trending so they can jump into that wagon. They are so unsure of themselves that cannot hold unto anything for any period of time without considering the option of quitting, trying something new or completely giving up. They throw the ball and immediately the defence steps in to try and stop them, they give up on tackling the opponent, catching the ball and having a touch down. Success is for the mentally strong. Only those who are mentally stable will create change. You have to be so sure of where you are going before you start because life will put so many obstacles in your path to try to stop you. For most of us in Africa where life is a daily struggle of survival, it is a tall order to stay with something that does not yield immediate reward.

The flip side of this coin however, is the fact that the challenges in the environment could help those who are serious about making a change, build their resistance and mental muscles. The road to success and impact is so rough that only those whose mental muscles have been developed by tireless resistance can arrive at their desired destinations. For those who wobble because their mental muscles have not been properly tested and developed, they will slowly but surely fall out of the race. Your physical strength is largely dependent on your mental strength. Whatever you put your mind do to will only be achieved by the strength of an undaunted and relentless mind. The size of the person you are inside determines how far you can go in life's journey. Stay strong and do enjoy a very pleasant weekend! Vous ne pouvez rien faire si vous vacillez mentalement. Certaines personnes ne sont jamais sûres de quoi que ce soit, elles ne font que rechercher tout ce qui est à la mode pour pouvoir sauter dans ce wagon. Ils sont tellement peu sûrs d’eux-mêmes qu’ils ne peuvent rien supporter pendant un certain temps sans penser à abandonner, à quelque chose de nouveau ou à laisser tomber complètement. Ils lancent le ballon et la défense intervient immédiatement pour tenter de les arrêter. Ils renoncent à tacler l'adversaire, à attraper le ballon et à avoir un touch down. Le succès est pour le fort mentalement. Seuls ceux qui sont mentalement stables créeront un changement. Avant de commencer, vous devez être aussi sûr de votre destination, car la vie mettra tant d'obstacles sur votre chemin pour tenter de vous arrêter. Pour la plupart d’entre nous en Afrique, où la vie est une lutte quotidienne pour la survie, il est difficile de rester avec quelque chose qui ne rapporte pas une récompense immédiate. Le revers de la médaille, cependant, est le fait que les défis de ces environnements pourraient aider ceux qui veulent vraiment effectuer un changement, renforcer leur résistance et leurs muscles mentaux. Le chemin qui mène au succès et à l’impact est tellement difficile que seuls ceux dont les muscles mentaux ont été développés par une résistance infatigable peuvent arriver à la destination souhaitée. Pour ceux qui vacillent parce que leurs muscles mentaux n'ont pas été proprement testés et développés, ils tomberont lentement mais sûrement de la course. Votre force physique dépend en grande partie de votre force mentale. Quoi que vous fassiez, votre esprit ne sera atteint que par la force d'un esprit intrépide et implacable. La taille de la personne à l'intérieur détermine la distance qu'on peut parcourir dans votre vie. Restez fort et profitez d'un week-end très agréable! IS IT FOR THE NAME SAKE? - EST-CE SEULEMENT POUR LE NOM?

We are bombarded each day by calls to make our lives count by pursuing our dreams. This in itself is not a bad thing, but what exactly is driving you? As I interact with people, I have discovered that many of us are pursing our dreams for these major reasons; money, name, legacy or making a difference. Unfortunately, they are almost always in that order but we try to deceive ourselves that we are primarily passionate about making a difference.

Why this is unfortunate is that when we lie to ourselves long enough we begin to believe the lie. This is the reason, especially in our developing continent, the effect of our pursuit is not felt. Much movement with little impact and progress. There is nothing wrong with your name being known because of the impact you are making but there is definitely something wrong with focusing on making a name for yourself. That kind of selfish ambition cannot run with a selfless cause like making a change in the life of others and helping the society to grow. On the other hand, a selfless cause which seeks to improve others and life in general, will result in your name being known. Do not seek greatness, just seek to add value and you will be surprised at how much difference you will make and how many people will want to associated with you or how "popular" you will become. Do not major on the minor and expect to make a lasting difference and leaving a legacy. Do have a great day! Nous sommes chaque jour bombardés par des appels de comment nous devons vivre pour que nos vies comptent en poursuivant nos rêves. Ce n'est pas une mauvaise chose en soi, mais qu'est-ce qui vous motive exactement? En interagissant avec les gens, j'ai découvert que beaucoup d'entre nous poursuivent nos rêves pour ces raisons majeures; argent, nom, legs ou faire une différence. Malheureusement, ils sont presque toujours dans cet ordre, mais nous essayons de nous leurrer que notre passion est avant tout de faire la différence. Pourquoi est-ce regrettable, c’est que lorsque nous nous mentons assez longtemps, nous commençons à croire le mensonge. C’est la raison pour laquelle, en particulier dans notre continent en développement, l’effet de notre poursuite n’est pas ressenti. Beaucoup de mouvement avec peu d'impact et de progrès. Il n’ya rien de mal à ce que votre nom soit connu en raison de l’impact que vous avez, mais il ya certainement quelque chose qui ne va pas lorsque vous vous concentrez pour vous faire un nom. Ce genre d'ambition égoïste ne peut pas aller de pair avec une cause désintéressée, comme changer la vie des autres et aider la société à se développer. D'autre part, une cause désintéressée qui cherche à améliorer les autres et la vie en général fera que votre nom sera connu. Ne cherchez pas la grandeur, cherchez simplement à ajouter de la valeur et vous serez surpris de la différence que vous ferez et du nombre de personnes qui voudront s’associer à vous ou de votre "popularité". Ne vous spécialisez pas dans la mineure et attendez-vous à faire une différence durable en laissant un legs. Passez une bonne journée!
