AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

CRITICS AND CHEERLEADERS - LES CRITIQUES ET LES MAJORETTES
After writing my book, I gave it to some people to look at before I made the final copy. The majority liked the content but there where some who drew my attention to areas that they thought I needed to take a second look at. I even had to change the title of the book because of the critics and the suggestions I got. At the end of the day, I got a better copy than the one I first presented. If we really want to succeed we cannot depend on only cheerleaders. No matter how passionate you are about something, you cannot see the picture from all its angles. In order to accomplish our goals, we need to be able to balance the opinion of our critics and our cheerleaders. If you have too many critics, you might be discouraged and too many cheerleaders can flatter you to your destruction. The ability to recognize genuine criticism and genuine praise is critical to your success. Do not put yourself in a position where people only tell you what you want to hear, be genuine enough to allow people express what they feel about what you are doing. There some people who believe that they are not good enough for praise so they seek those who always criticize them, while others are constantly looking for cheerleaders because they believe that they know everything. If you want to accomplish much, you need to make room for both critics and cheerleaders but you have to be genuine enough to identify who is genuine with you. Surrounding yourself with honest people is a great platform for success but you can only do that when you yourself are an honest person who is committed to achieving lasting success. Enjoy your day!

STONES AND DIAMONDS - PIERRES ET DIAMANTS
Many of us want to shine as diamonds but want to live as stones. We are attracted by the beauty and worth of fame but we want to live ordinary lives. Are you ready to undergo the long pressure and pain that the stone has to endure to turn it into a diamond? Are you ready for the long period of darkness and utter loneliness that is required for the stone to become a diamond? Many wish for things they are not ready to pay the price for. I listened to an actor who had to spend a considerable amount of time with real combatant forces in a war situation just to be able to get into the character. All we see is how they shine at the award ceremonies, we do not see the long days and nights and hours spent away from loved ones and leisure. Scientists, inventors and others who have made a difference in their society or made a name for themselves have had to come out of the crowd and do what others thought was too difficult or impossible. When you want to achieve something that would change your landscape and leave a lasting impression, you should be ready to endure what others run away from. Stones and diamonds have the same origin but at some point, some stones were moved under rocks and were under pressure for ages. Those stones that were left to "enjoy" air and "freedom" did not become diamonds that people are ready to pay so much money for. Do not worry when it seems that you are separated from people and under pressure while holding on to your dream and working long and hard without any reward, the road less traveled is for those who can endure the pressure that turns ordinary people into champions.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR TIME? - QUE FAITES-VOUS AVEC VOTRE TEMPS?
I know people who spend hours on end either watching TV, visiting friends or browsing social media sites. I do not have a problem with these people or others who spend long hours at a time on sports, entertainment or some other thing. My concern is, are you spending time or you are investing time. We all have the same amount of hours per day and time cannot be an excuse for your lack of productivity, it has to be what you do with your time. We can complaint about our unfair share of other resources that we need to make a success of our lives but time is the only resource that is equally allocated to every human being. You can just spend your time without adding any value to your life or you can invest your time and get wonderful returns on your investment. Not every time spent on entertainment and relaxation is time wasted, we need those time-outs to balance our health and enjoy life and relationships. However, when you spend over 70% of your time on something that does not add value to your life or does not contribute to something that will help humanity, you are wasting the precious time that some have maximised to invent all the so-called pleasures of life that you seek. The way a person uses time tells a great deal about who the person is. Those who value time will look for ways to make whatever they do line up with purpose, success is intimately tied to how we spend our time. Enjoy a great week!
