AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

But flip the coin and let a Chinese, an American or someone
from Dubai present us with this project of making recyclable, cost-effective
and energy efficient way of building houses, Africans interest will be piqued
and Naira/Dollars will roll.
We must develop from within.” – Damilola Akinbola

You are only as successful as the impact you make on those who are under your influence. If your immediate environment does not benefit from your contributions, you have to rethink your path to success. For us Africans, the earlier we realise that our development is in our own hands and look at what we have to solve our challenges, we would be stuck as beggars. You cannot be respected at the global table if you do not have what to contribute to the development of your immediate region. Let’s stop and think, it is never too late to make the right decision and take the necessary action.

SOCIETY. HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT. SUSTAINABLE GROWTH - SOCIÉTÉ. DÉVELOPPEMENT DU CAPITAL HUMAIN. UNE CROISSANCE DURABLE

As a society, everyone would usually look to the government for its direction, leadership and motion towards making the environment better.

While this is true, this is only the half-truth of any developed society. A developed society is a developed community where the factors of development do not reside in these arms of infrastructure, facilities and amenities but in the people that make up that community. A developed environment is a developing environment, where what was available yesterday is constantly upgraded to the needs of today by the people who inhabit that community. There is no need to validate that statement because if we only look at the trends we would see the definitions take their natural course. Being developed is a term that was coined to mean being up-to-date with modern science, biology, technology and methodologies of doing things faster, better cheaper and more efficiently. This is the reason why we have factories, industries, newer technologies and innovative ideas that create a more interesting future for the coming generations.

Education is the tool with which any environment will develop, but what is education? Education is simply the process through which skill, technique, knowledge, innovative applications and abilities are acquired by a person, group, community or society. An educated society is a developed society! Without implementation, knowledge is invalid because it serves no purpose in the construction, development or advancement of the environment. - Tanho Attah

MentorAfrica: CONCENTRATE ON YOUR CANVAS - CONCENTREZ SUR VOTRE ...: Creativity and innovation are not the exclusive preserve of some races or some people. Life gives all of us a blank canvas to paint an image...
CONCENTRATE ON YOUR CANVAS - CONCENTREZ SUR VOTRE TOILE

When you believe, for whatever reason, that your contributions would be insignificant, there so much anyone can do make you believe otherwise. You cannot keep allowing the prejudices of others and society in general, to stop you from expressing who you really are. You have to continue to express yourself, put your "foolishness" out there until people begin to see the beauty, the wisdom and the creativity. Our life is a work of art that should inspire others and help them along the way. What you paint on that canvas is seen by so many that you may not even be aware of. When we are conscious of how important our life is and that it is interwoven with that of others in society, we will be more careful how we live. Your carefree expression of your life and gifts could be the leverage someone else needs to open their wings and come out of their cocoon. We are all leaders in the sense that we influence others directly or indirectly with our lives. Many are too selfish to consider others, until we see life differently, no leadership school can change society. Leaders who cannot understand this principle will have the title but their leadership would not make a difference in the lives of their constituents, no matter the training they get. The mistake most of us make is to keep looking at other people's canvas with a view to criticizing it while our own painting is left unfinished. This means that those who are supposed to draw inspiration from our paintings are left unattended. It is time to realise the importance of our painting. Let us turn our attention to our canvas and do what we alone have the ability to do to make life better for others. Enjoy your day!
