AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

RUN TO THE ROAR! - COUREZ VERS LE RUGISSEMENT!
When the lion roars, its prey is terrified and most times immobilized
by fear. This is what makes it easy for the lion to kill its prey. Interestingly,
that same roar helps anyone who wants to kill the lion to have an idea of its
location. There is the widely circulated phrase “FEAR is either forget everything and run or face everything and rise” If we magnify what we fear, we will be immobilized
and prevented from accomplishing our vision but if we are courageous enough to
face it and minimize it by focusing on our strengths, we will move on to great
things. The hunter who wants to kill a lion prepares and positions himself by
studying the life patterns of the lion and seeking out the best strategies to
accomplish his purpose, he does not concentrate on his weaknesses and the
strengths of the lion. Most people are overcome by fear because they focus on
the challenge rather than concentrating on what they have and working out
strategies on how to use it to overcome. You either feed your fear or you feed
your courage, everyone has both. It is becoming increasingly difficult to live
without confronting the brute force of society, there are roars all around us
especially from the media. Are we going to allow fear triumph and prevent us
from achieving our goals? There are lions from our past, we as Africans, have
largely allowed these to immobilize us and there lions in our present that try
to hinder our progress. Whichever one it is, you have to make up your mind to
treat every roar like a signal to prepare and position yourself for the kill if
you intend to be successful and make a difference. Enjoy a great week!

Everyone has a throne, if you do not sit on yours, someone else will use you as their footstool. Many of us subconsciously submitting to a popular profile. It is either we unconsciously fit into racial or other profiles or we live our lives constantly trying to prove that we are unique. It is amazing how people make so much efforts to become who they already are or someone they want to be like rather than just allowing what they have inside to develop. As an African, this is a picture that is very common, we believe that in order to be accepted, we either have to completely extricate ourselves from everything african or we overcompensate by over emphasising anything african even when we do not understand what we projecting. If you are aware of your significance and your uniqueness, living would be about seeing yourself as a contributor to life and developing what you have rather than trying to impress everyone. We all have a throne from where we influence society for good irrespective of our race, our history, our culture or our geographical location. Stop trying to fit into popular culture in order to impress people who do not even recognise your existence. Sit on your throne and develop your kingdom, there are people who need to visit your kingdom to learn something from you that will help them build their own kingdom. Stop going to sit as a footstool at someone else's throne because you do not know that you have a throne with a mandate that is unoccupied.

ARE YOU RELEVANT? - ÊTES-VOUS PERTINENT?
It is not the amount of knowledge you have that matters, it
is the relevance of the knowledge to the improvement of human life that is
important. Some people are full of information that has no benefit for the advancement
of present society. Some have information so antiquated that it becomes an obstacle
to their modern living. There is a place for history because we have to know
the reason why we live the way we do today. That is as useful as history gets, when
you hold on to history as your only source of life, you become a misfit in
present society. For some, if things are not done according to the historical
knowledge they have, then it is not acceptable. The only way to remain relevant
is to be a continuous learner. They say that the day you stop learning, you
start to die. Anyone living in the present era with the intention of making any
impact has to constantly make use of the numerous avenues that are available today
to update their knowledge. Changes are happening by the moments, not even by
the day, we have to put ourselves in positions to improve what we know as fast
as we can. Certificates are losing value fast because immediately they satisfy
the requirements for which they were given, new knowledge is coming out from
that field. Do not depend on just what you achieved from your formal training, constantly
try to acquire new information about your vision as it becomes available to you
so you can remain relevant to society. Enjoy your day!
