AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

WHEN?...NOW! - QUAND?...MAINTENANT!
Many want to see change but are not ready to make choices that bring about the desired change. Some continue to do the things they are used to, expecting magic to happen while others procrastinate in taking actions that are necessary for change to occur. What we need to realise is that change is now; decide, then begin to take little steps, if you cannot be drastic about what you want to see and the direction you want to go, change cannot happen. Everybody can talk or wish for change but only those who determine to IMMEDIATELY do something about it would eventually enjoy the new life they seek. Many do not make the needed adjustments because change is uncomfortable, they wish but they do not commit. Anyone wishing to make a difference in life should be ready to go through various seasons of change as they journey on in life. Success is not magic, it is a combination of work and choices. Decide today to make the needed choice and take a step in the direction of the impact you want to make. Enjoy your day!

HOW BROAD ARE YOUR HORIZONS? - VOS HORIZONS, COMMENT SONT-ILS?
When you try to ask some people about other cultures, they give you an attitude that says they are not interested or "what has that got to do with anything". Many do not even avail themselves of the opportunities offered by the worldwide web and social media to understand what the rest of the world has to offer. The same people would condemn something they do not understand about a culture they have refused to understand. If we tried to understand where people come from, we would be more inclined to empathise and help. It is not enough to search for pictures to berate other cultures, we need to research and understand why some cultures do things in a different way from ours. We cannot call lifestyles barbaric just because we are not familiar with them and hand this kind of misinformation down to upcoming generations. All the scramble for conflict resolution would be less severe if people took time to look at life from the lenses of other cultures. The world would be a boring place if we all looked at life the same way, there are fundamental life principles but we all approach and interpret them differently. Looking down on other peoples' cultures defines how closed your horizons are; you do not have to travel to places to understand cultures, just read, educate yourself and broaden your horizons. Have a wonderful day!

WORK YOUR "TASTE BUDS" - FORMEZ VOS "PAPILLES GUSTATIVES"
Many mothers who try to introduce vegetables into their
family diet would testify to how difficult it can be. No matter how much they
explain the importance of vegetables to good health, most members of the family
are not interested. It is even more difficult if they are vegetables that are
not native to their environment. It is not as if they do not understand what
the mother is saying, it is the fact that their taste buds are not used to them
or the fact that their appearances seem “odd” This is a life principle; many
know what it would take to make the journey to their destination easier but
they are not interested in taking on these activities because they are unfamiliar
and seem difficult.
I have discovered that it is only the few beginning steps
that are difficult or “tasteless”; immediately you make up your mind to
continue, your “taste buds” become gradually used to the taste. You can train yourself to
like anything if you want, after all people would automatically start eating
vegetables and foods they do not like when they are told that their health depended on it. Discipline is a word that a lot of us do not like to
hear but that is the only road to success; just start with “your eyes closed”
and you will find that you will actually start loving something you thought was
detestable. Enjoy your day!
