AFRICA IS A CONTINENT ON THE MOVE AND HER YOUTHS ARE HER GREATEST RESOURCE."We cannot always build a future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future."Franklin D. Roosevelt. MentorAfrica looks to help youths, through various life transition mentoring topics, to prepare youths for development and leadership that will help them change the African narrative whenever the opportunity arises.

FUEL THE FIRE - ALIMENTEZ LE FEU

Life leaves us with those moments where we can restart the fire or add some fuel to bring up the flame again. We could miss those moments and give up on the very things that really mean a lot to us. We have to have enough fuel to carry us through those moments when we go through bumpy patches. This is the reason why we must surround ourselves with people and activities that fuel our fire. Do not allow associations that dampen your fire or engage in activities that can quench your flame. This has to be something intentional because the world is for those who make conscious choices that help them accomplish their purpose. I was discussing with a youth yesterday and she said thinking is hard work. I told her that if we do not give our thoughts our best shot, we would do things randomly and our choices will end up shortchanging us or harming us. We have to train ourselves to always think our decisions through in order to line up with our intended goals. To arrive at your desired destination, you have to be intentional, success does not happen by chance. Do have a great weekend! THE PERFECT PITCH - L'ARGUMENTAIRE DE VENTE PARFAIT.

The interesting thing though, is the fact that the end result of the pitch does not change as along as we keep moving along and making the required changes as we go. If we wait for life to give us a perfect pitch before we do what we know we should be doing to achieve our vision, it will never happen. There are prejudices, playing fields that are not level, human ideologies that could spin things out of control. These will always be there no matter the amount of legislation put in place to improve human existence and interpersonal relationships. These are things we must find a way around when they rear their ugly heads if we want to successfully accomplish our purpose. These are things captured in the slides that will either be missing from the pitch or that will be so blurred that they will catch us unprepared as pursue our dreams. With life you must be prepared for the unexpected or the little understood. When you are aware of these hidden traps, you might not be able to completely avoid them, but you will be better prepared to tackle whatever is thrown across your path. Do have very pleasant day! THE POWER OF THE VOICE - LA FORCE DE LA VOIX.

The sad thing about all of this is the fact that we are made to accept these voices by the policies that are put in place by those who have managed to weave their way through to this circle. Our voice is very important, it is the only vehicle available for us to make a difference either through the spoken word or through writing. Nobody is born with a strong voice, we develop it as we begin to experience life. When we give up the opportunity to speak up, our voices are silenced forever. There are voices that are speaking presently that nobody is paying attention to because they have not been able to match their words with action. The only way your opinion can be accepted into the culture of a place is for you to speak, speak and speak loud enough with actions matching your words, until people pay attention. The economically or politically strong did not start with the amount of strength and influence that they have today that gives them the ability to prey on the weak. Their voices grew louder as their actions grew stronger until people could not help but notice them and most times, spaces were created to accommodate them. Slowly but surely, they began to grow the influence that nobody could ignore. In every sphere of life, those who by their speech and actions are resilient enough to continue until they can no longer be ignored, are those who will attract enough attention and create enough space for their influence to be felt. Do not allow your voice to be silenced or your actions undermined. Any principle of value today was once upon a time looked at as disruptive but as the originators refused to back down, people began to notice the value of their contributions and they have now accepted their contributions as principles to live by. Do not allow anyone to put you down when you are sure of what your contribution can do to improve lives. Life only gives room to the committed and resilient. Do have a wonderful day!

I read this post and decide to share it on this blog. Africa is constantly crying about the failure of leadership but until we take it upon ourselves to do something about it in our own little ways, we will continue to cry out without results.
Many people are talking about developing the youths but until we have a generation that is truly interested in taking ownership of their communities and this continent, we will just be raising a generation that wants to better themselves and live were they can make a good living without any intentions of advancing this continent.
Leaders must be those with a passion to make a difference where it really matters.

The emergence of new leaders of the continent will not happen without taking into account many complex factors and situations. These new leaders will compete in science, economics, technology and politics with the rest of the world.
It is to this global competition that we must prepare to allow the advent of a real social capital, which is missing in our continent.
Our ability to make African youths dream and give them a strong desire to fight in a globalized world will remain the main key to the emergence of these new leaders.
For us to shut ourselves up in an island of misery, this victimization whose broad outline is an insult to intelligence, the refusal to accept our responsibility for the poverty that has characterized the continent, the demographic explosion which translates to a collective suicide are the main gangrenes to the emergence of these new leaders.

YOU NEED TO JUMP - VOUS AVEZ BESOIN DE SAUTER

EYES ON THE REWARD; PAIN IN THE JOURNEY. - LES YEUX SUR LE PRIX; LA DOULEUR DANS LE VOYAGE.
The reason most of us are frustrated with the journey is because we have our eyes glued to the image of the reward. We see ourselves on platforms, in boardrooms or somewhere in the spotlight. Therefore, any situation that does not resemble these leads to frustration. We cannot enjoy the scenery and the victorious steps of progress that inch towards the finish line. Those who focus on the journey will enjoy it and arrive at their destination still full of vigor and strength to enjoy the burden of success. If you cannot enjoy the process, it will be difficult for you appreciate success because you will be worn out and burnt out by the time you achieve what you have spent your blood, sweat and tears to accomplish.
I have watched successful architects undertake magnificent building projects and they are very excited with the build as they see every little detail put in place. I look at them taking great pride in the process because of the image of the finished project they have in mind. Any other person watching them would wonder why such a hectic task is giving them so much joy. I have seen them work through challenges, rearranging things, going back to the drafts, re-doing budgets and they just keep going.I am quite certain that most of the time, their mind is not in the big money coming from the fees, they are at a point were what they are building is more important than the fees. When we are focused on the reward and we are not excited about the process, it takes our attention off the journey and off the details. The result is a process not properly managed and a finish not as we dreamt it would be. Consequently, we will either live with the regret of not accomplishing what we envisioned or we will have to go back and fix things up out of the reward we having been dying to make. It is what you focus on that you will achieve, so focus on what is important. This way you will enjoy both the process and the outcome. Do have a blessed day! STOP WOBBLING - ARRÊTEZ DE TREMBLOTER

The flip side of this coin however, is the fact that the challenges in the environment could help those who are serious about making a change, build their resistance and mental muscles. The road to success and impact is so rough that only those whose mental muscles have been developed by tireless resistance can arrive at their desired destinations. For those who wobble because their mental muscles have not been properly tested and developed, they will slowly but surely fall out of the race. Your physical strength is largely dependent on your mental strength. Whatever you put your mind do to will only be achieved by the strength of an undaunted and relentless mind. The size of the person you are inside determines how far you can go in life's journey. Stay strong and do enjoy a very pleasant weekend! IS IT FOR THE NAME SAKE? - EST-CE SEULEMENT POUR LE NOM?
We are bombarded each day by calls to make our lives count by pursuing our dreams. This in itself is not a bad thing, but what exactly is driving you? As I interact with people, I have discovered that many of us are pursing our dreams for these major reasons; money, name, legacy or making a difference. Unfortunately, they are almost always in that order but we try to deceive ourselves that we are primarily passionate about making a difference.
Why this is unfortunate is that when we lie to ourselves long enough we begin to believe the lie. This is the reason, especially in our developing continent, the effect of our pursuit is not felt. Much movement with little impact and progress. There is nothing wrong with your name being known because of the impact you are making but there is definitely something wrong with focusing on making a name for yourself. That kind of selfish ambition cannot run with a selfless cause like making a change in the life of others and helping the society to grow. On the other hand, a selfless cause which seeks to improve others and life in general, will result in your name being known. Do not seek greatness, just seek to add value and you will be surprised at how much difference you will make and how many people will want to associated with you or how "popular" you will become. Do not major on the minor and expect to make a lasting difference and leaving a legacy. Do have a great day! THE PRICE IS AN ACT. - LE PRIX EST UN ACTE.
Ideas are not in short supply, everybody has multiple. The inventions
we have today may not have been done by those who thought of them first, but we
can only remember those who did something about the idea that they had. A lot
of people think about a lot of things because everyone has some level of
intelligence. However, until you decide to put some action into your idea, it
will never see the light of day and no one will ever know about it.
There are those who claim to have had an idea before someone went public with it and they might be correct. They will never get any credit for an idea they were not bold or smart enough to put into action. Whenever you think of something, be courageous enough to try it out, if you fail, at least you tried. When you see someone else succeed at it, you can then learn from them and be bold and smart enough to venture out the next time some other idea comes up. Many inventors tried out over a dozen ideas and more before they got one right. No idea is too outlandish or too stupid, if you feel strongly about it, be foolish enough to go for it. Failure is a HUGE part of success. Enjoy a great day! Let’s continue have these conversations on Facebook/justinakesagbosa, LinkedIn/justinakesagbosa, Instagram @Jpmy_Africa, Twitter@josephsplaceng

HICCUPS ARE ALWAYS TO BE EXPECTED - LES HOQUETS SONT TOUJOURS À ATTENDRE
It's been quite a while since I last posted on my blog. There are times when we have hiccups and it is expected. It's good to be back though. I really appreciate those who continued to visit the blog and read up whatever they could find.

It is interesting when all we can do at times is just gallop along, what is important though is that we have to keep moving no matter what kind of vehicle you use or at what speed you go. Do not stop doing what you love that is helping you affect other lives for the better. No matter what life throws at you, just keep going. Life opens up for those who do not stop moving. It is good to be back. Do have a lovely week! Let's continue the conversation on Facebook/Justinskesagbosa, on LinkedIn/justinakesagbosa, Instagram @Jpmy_Africa, Twitter @josephsplaceng
