BENEFITS OF HINDSIGHT - LE BENEFICE DE LA SAGESSE RETROSPECTIVE

We always hear people say “the benefit of hindsight” and they recount an experience in the past that they can refer to as a learning curve. The interesting thing is that at the time we are having these experiences, we cannot fathom in our wildest imagination, how they are going to benefit us especially if they are bad ones. Life has a way of using past experiences to help us overcome future challenges and make life changing decisions, that is why people will always refer to the benefits of hindsight. But unfortunately, a lot of people allow these experiences to waste and make the same mistakes that they made in the past. It is not always that the hindsight must be related to us, we can also use someone else’s experiences as learning curves, but  most times we ignore these and fall into the same pits as those we are following.  Some make the same mistakes repeatedly without learning anything; they do the same thing and expect different results. This is a phenomenon that we find in leadership that keep citizens in bondage for generations, incoming leaders go exactly the same way as the previous ones without making any changes probably because they are simply overwhelmed. Many African societies are in this web of continuing leadership disasters because the political will is missing and the intention to change things does not exist most of the time. In this case, the benefit of hindsight does not apply, they are not interested in learning from past experiences so they do not benefit them.

  1. It sad but true Many African societies are in this web of continuing leadership disasters because the political will is missing and the intention to change things does not exist most of the time. In this case, the benefit of hindsight does not apply, they are not interested in learning from past experiences so it does not benefit them.
