LET'S START NOW (COMMENCONS MAINTENANT)

Looking only at our handicaps and development challenges will not move us forward. That would be likened to driving a car while we are looking at the rearview mirror. We have to look at our challenges only with the view of doing something about them. One of the things we quickly need to confront is bringing our youths to a place where they realise that the future of Africa is in their hands and that they have all it takes to do this if they put their minds to it. Let's start now.

Let the foolishness stop in our generation. We have to prepare the next generation for Africa's giant strides. We must not allow the upcoming youths who would take over the reigns of leadership at all levels of nation building to continue in the mindless foolishness that we see all over Africa. Thankfully, a lot of Africans and lovers of this continent have started to change their perspective to the direction of an Africa that is emerging from the corrupt dark ages of greed and underdevelopment. We must try to mentor the youths in what ever environment we find ourselves. We must define our own movement forward, based on what we have discovered rather than on what we have been made to believe about this continent.

We  must allow history to take its course by allowing ourselves to believe that we can be a part of history. WAHO/OOAS is doing a fantastic job in the ECOWAS sub-region and we should emulate her to bring Africa to the next developmental era. Kudos WAHO/OOAS for the wonderful job of mentoring through your YPIP program.

WE GOT WHAT IT TAKES

When you have a task before you, the most important thing is for you to know whether you have the ability to do it or not. Self-defeat is the most paralyzing of all fears. You must be confident that you have what it takes to accomplish the  task before you or you have the ability to prepare for the task before you. What most of us as Africans need, is the belief in ourselves and the fact that we are not "cursed" or inherently evil; that we have what it takes, if we try, to make Africa a fulfilled continent.

VISIONS OF OUR FATHERS

Let's share the visions of our founding fathers to help us understand where we are coming from so we could have a proper perspective on where we should be going. Africa cannot afford to let the opportunities that are presenting themselves right now on the world stage to slip her by. Your thoughts and comments.

CONTINENT OF JUNGLES - CONTINENT DES JUNGLES

When the African continent is mentioned it resonates with the idea of extreme backwardness to the extent that even the Africans themselves believe they are a cursed race. Interestingly however, a friend of mine came back to visit our Nigeria and we got talking about her experience in one of the West Indian islands where she presently resides. She told me something that was quite fascinating. She said immediately she identifies her self as a Nigerian they begin to ask her if the Nollywood films are shot in Africa or in some other destinations because the image of Africa they have in this 21st century (you won't believe it) is that of a continent of jungles. She does a lot of explaining to make them realize that, first of all, Africa is a continent of many nations and that the films are shot in our own soil. She said it gives them a sense of pride to know that the continent of their ancestry has come a long way. Be that as it may, can we say we have come far enough.

AFRICA'S TIME

"It is Africa's time" Have you ever heard that phrase before? What does that bring to mind if you have heard it? To different people, this phrase means different things. To some, it is a joke but to a few others, it is a statement of fact. What does it mean to you? We are setting up this mentoring and coaching blog for those who believe it is a statement of fact to rub minds together to prepare for the giants strides Africa is about to make. Do join us.

Reflechissons.
